Yay! Jean size NSV

  • Today I was walking around the mall, knowing I wouldn't be buying anything (since I've gone shopping every day for the past 3 days). I walked into American Eagle and for some reason, I decided to try on a size 10 pair of jeans! I don't know why I did it. I didn't actually think that they would fit. I started off as a size 18 and only recently bought myself a 12 (which is now loose so I should have put two and two together and guessed the following..) But guess what?!?..... They fit!! Tightly, but still!!!!

I didn't know what to do! I ran out and showed hubby even though there were like a million people there. Anyway, I didn't buy them because I've been spending soo much money on clothes lately and I think I'm gonna wait a little while. Maybe I'll rely on yoga pants for now until I'm a size 8. Do most people avoid buying jeans while they are losing or do you just suck it up and buy a pair or two? I hope to go down another size soon so I don't know what to do lol.
  • Congrats! I love finding out I'm 'smaller' than I realize, it's a fantastic feeling. This past year I've gone from a 24 to 14. Thankfully I saved a lot of my clothes so I had plenty of things to wear until about a size 16/18. Of course now all of my 'small' clothes are too big. I'm in that weird place where I'm still 60lbs from my goal so it doesn't make sense to buy a lot of new stuff. I've been buying gently used clothes at thrift stores and ebay. As long as you don't bind buying used, you can get a whole lot of clothes for just a few dollars. If you want new stuff, stores like TJ Maxx, Wal-Mart, ... are great for inexpensive items. I'd suggest buying a few basics (jeans, black pants) that can be worn with many outfits, and then when you're closer to your goal you can get better stuff.
  • Congrats!

I figured out what brand of jeans fit me the best (this changed as I lost weight), and would go and get a couple pair from the thrift store in the next size down. From 18-14 it was Old Navy Sweetheart, then from 12-10 it was Gap Original Bootcut. It was nice to be able to go in a grab a couple pair without having to try them on, and without spending a lot of money since I knew I would be going down another size soon. Granted, you have to weed through a lot of jeans that were stylish in 1989, but it was worth it.
  • Congratulations!

I've vowed not to buy anything until my bmi goes from obese to overweight. Except, you know, the essentials... like running pants, work out shoes etc

    Be proud!
