  • I was reading a thread somewhere around here yesterday about plus size modeling, and that got me thinking. So I was looking up some info, and apparently there are some pretty hefty requirements.

the requirements the site i was looking at gave were:
    -sizes between 8 and 18/20
    -no shorter than 5'8"
    -toned
    -clear skin
    -pretty face
and thats all i can remember...

I think once I reach my goals weight I'll still be considered plus sized in the modeling world (uh,WTH! size 8 doesn't constitute plus sized in MY mind, but whatever!) I don't know that I'd be able to (err-be confident enough to?) do different poses and such.. but it's a different thing to kind of "dream" about, at least for me anyway. I'd love to have my hair & make up done all the time by pros !! Don't know if I could deal with all the scrutiny though.. what about you all?? Has anyone tried it/thought of trying it?
  • I've never considered modeling myself. I think its definitely something you could do if you wanted to though! I've watched your video blogs and have seen your pics...even at higher weights you've always looked gorgeous! And you're VERY photogenic!

ahh thank you! I'm gonna cry (happy tears though!).. that's really nice of you to say! It takes a beautiful girl to know one!
  • I've done some. I'm pretty tall...so I'm glad it's been put to use somewhere, haha!
  • Lane Bryant does a contest every year. I wanted to enter it when I was 18 but it just wasn't working out. I wasn't eligable for the regular competition because I was an employee, and I wasn't eligable for the employee competition because I wasn't planning on staying there long enough (I was leaving for college in a couple months). Never looked into it again after that. But if you want to give it a go, then good luck to you!
  • I never have, but I think you are beautiful and should start looking into it now, since you look perfect as is.
  • That would be so much fun! My sister is 5'10, 125 pounds, and she does runway modeling, she just got signed in New York. I'm so jealous of you tall people, being 5'2 modeling is just not my calling
  • Aclai4067 - i googled lane bryant model search 2009 but didn't come up with anything recent.. so i may need to do some more looking around. but it sounds like fun!

luckymommy - thank you thank you thank you!

iwannalose - heh!! i think i might just BARELY be tall enough. on the other hand, my boyfriend & i were measuring each other's heights the other day and he said i was 5'6"!! i could have sworn that the doctor told me 5'8".. and we were also using one of those tool-type measuring tapes.. so who knows lol. i bet your sister has loads of fun

You should go for it! You are beautiful. I've seen your videos and the camera loves you!

I agree with you about how awesome it is that the women who do plus-sized modeling are confident enough to strut their stuff! It kinda makes you feel like you can do it, too, ya know? I'll get there someday!

alsooo thanks everyone for watching my videos & reading my blog, it means alot
  • I had considered it at one point, but I'm too short!

    Go for it
  • iwannaloose and stella I'm right there with ya with being short!
  • I have no idea if they still do it. From google it looks like maybe they haven't since 2004. But I can tell you the agencies they usually partnered with for their searches were Ford and Wilhelmina.
