Brand New & Needing Support

  • I'm new. I've been lurking around the forums for a little while and only signed up just now. I've been trying on my own to loose, and so far I've done pretty well (although I haven't been at it long at all), but I think it would help a lot if I had other girls to chat with and share advice and support. So here I am.

    I was always told that I would have to get serious about it on my own, and the person who gave me that advice was totally right. It had to be my own decision, not something that I did for anyone else. I'm ready to do this for me.


    I'm going to need some help, but that is why I'm here, to offer and receive it.

    3FC is a GREAT place! Use it! I find the ladies to be wonderful... I try to give as much support as I get though-

    Do you have a plan for weight loss? What are you doing? I think have a clear plan and goals are so important to start out with weight loss! You have to know where your going and how you will get there!

    Like an above poster said, the key for me has been setting small goals with a big goal in mind, and choosing a plan to get there.

    I have a sort of custom and very basic plan. Basically, I'm cutting out all the junkfood I've been eating, and in addition, I eat small portions of healthy food at various times throughout the day, taking care that when I'm hungry I eat only enough so that I am satisfied, instead of having huge meals and feeling like I need to roll myself out of my chair. I am concentrating on figuring out when I am full by paying attention to my body as opposed to eating with my eyes. I'm not completely denying myself...I think I'd probably end up going on an insane binge if I did that, so I have little bits of sweets here and there to satisfy my cravings for it (one cookie, a Hershey's kiss, etc.)...I'd probably go on an insane chocolate binge if I tried to cut out sweets altoghter.

    I'm also going to the gym! My minimum is three times a week. I actually really like it. I get to zone out and listen to the music I love.
  • Going to the gym is like therapy for me. The benefits are incredible!
