I am so tired of stepping on the scale and getting a different reading. I can step on and off that darn thing 10 times and get a different reading each time! I am sick of it! I also get different readings if I move it around the room. It's a WW scale that was highly rated on Amazon. I've changed the battery, cleaned the contacts, etc. ALWAYS get a different reading.

What sort of scale do you have and does it give you different readings all the time?

I have a Thinner brand scale and I actually posted a couple months ago about having the exact same problem! In my case cleaning it and removing/replacing the battery helped a bit though. But I can't say I'd recommend the brand. Tanita scales got good reviews from the posters who responded to me.

I use my wii fit as a scale, but previous to that just a regular digital scale and it seemed to work just fine...

As far as yours I would recommend keeping it in the same spot and weigh at the same time of day when you do... I was told once not to weigh everyday of the week, your weight can fluxuate so much through the day and week that you will only drive yourself crazy! Yes I HAVE done that! LOL My suggestion pick one day of the week and weigh on THAT day at about the same time each week (I suggest naked or with the same clothes each time)

I wish I could help you, but I have that WW scale and it works just fine for me. If you got it at Costco, you might be able to return it and get a different one, but that's probably a long shot.

I have a Thinner brand scale that I really like that I rarely have problems with, and I also just got a Renewed Energy Digital Glass scale for Christmas that is slightly more accurate than my Thinner one.

Pick a time of day you want to weigh. Morning is often best.
- Make sure the scale is on a hard floor--not on a carpet or rug.
- Put the scale on the same place on the floor each time.
- Have bare feet, not socks on.
- Turn the scale on and make sure it shows 0 before you step on it.
- Step on the scale, and hold still until the reading stabilizes.
- Step off the scale and record your weight.

DO NOT keep getting on and off the scale! Take the FIRST READING. Do this every day at the same time.

Don't weigh throughout the day. Weight varies as you eat, drink, go to the bathroom, etc.

Unless your weight is swinging wildly, like 3-5 pounds, then probably the scale is OK.

If it is swinging wildly like that, check into returning it.

I usually weigh in every few days. The only reason I know it was being goofy was that I was excited to show my dh my weight loss and when I got back on it for him to read it, it was different. That led me to get on and off it a few times and each time was a different reading. Kids and dh did the same thing and the same thing happened. Now that I'm aware of it, it pisses me off.

Sometimes it's as much as an 8 lb difference. It's been a year so I can't return it.

I was very annoyed with my scale so we got a Seca, which is very high precision and is supposed to be built to specs so that it remains true despite get jostled or what have you. It is consistent, every single time. But, very pricey.

I have a MyWeigh Elite that I LOVE! Usually the same number every time or maybe off by 0.2...We had a digital scale at work that would do the same thing you're talking about, so I tested mine when I got it...step on, off, on, off, and so on...pretty much the same number each time

Do you leave it in place or store it somewhere between weighings? Maybe it's been damaged somehow?!?! If you've replaced the batteries & cleaned it, maybe it's time to get a new one? sucks, being it's only a year old...but might be worth it...

Yeah I had that problem with my digital, and went to Wal-Mart and bought this $40 scale. Nice glass one, it works like a charm. But it seems like sometimes, while a brand can be amazing an indivual scale can be wacky/cooky. You just kinda have to play around until you find one that actually works. This can be expensive though.

Agh. Well, if changing the batteries didn't help it, then it's definitely time for a new scale. I have a Tanita and I like it a lot.

Mine is very very sensitive. It all depends on how I step on it. If my arms are behind my back I get one weight. Folded in front gets a different one.

Fortunately, my WiiFit balance board doesn't have that problem.

I use the Wii fit balance board, now this thread has me thinking it might be off, because I certainly don't weight myself time after time on it... it's not the same as just jumping on the scale. I hope it isn't all goofy and I don't even know it! lol

I weigh on my wii balance board, and I've done it a few times in a row before out of curiosity and gotten the same number, so I think it's pretty accurate, especially since I'm using it on wood floors...

BUT, I did get kind of freaked out when I weighed myself on it, didn't eat or drink anything, went to the doctor...and the office scale said I was 7 lbs heavier then the wii balance board..

BUT, at the same time, since I'm ONLY weighing myself with the balance board, it's the progress that counts, not the actual number.

At least, thats what I tell myself. haha
