Salad Dressing

  • Good Morning All:
I am having a heck of a time finding any salad dressing
that does not contain sugar. What do you folks use?
    Anne.
  • I got this idea from Sundrop, over at the FFP thread (under Diet Plans).
I have a GE hand blender that has a small (2.5 cup size) food processor attachment. In this processor I add flax seed oil, a touch vinegar, lemon juice from 1/2 - 1 lemon, dry mustard, cumin, chopped parsley, garlic and flax seeds (but you can add any spices you like). You could even add a drop or 2 of Stevia to sweeten it up. It makes a great Faux Honey Mustard dressing. Blend it up and save for the day. I use it on my salad, veggies and even mixed alittle bit with the yolks of my HB egg to make deviled eggs.
  • Hi,

You can make your own with oil & vinegar & some spices. That would be the best.

I think Maries Blue cheese doens't have any but I can't remember.

    Hope this helps,

    Love Leens
  • I never have found any sugar free, but I do buy the Kraft dressings, NOT the low fat ones, just the regular. If it's mayo based like bleu cheese or ranch, it's about 1 carb per serving. If it's Catalina or something with ketchup in it, that makes the carbs go sky high. Thousand Island is my favorite, but it has 9 carbs per 2 tablespoons, so I eat Bacon Ranch now. Yummy!!
  • I'm trying to bring some LC salad dressing recipes from the menu site! Please bear with me!

    she who must be obeyed

    1 cup mayo
    2 tbsp onion minced
    1 tsp minced garlic
    1/4 cup chopped parsley
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 tbsp lemon juice
    1 tbsp white vinegar

whisk all the above season with salt and pepper. note-I use just a little less than a tbsp of lemon juice and white vinegar

stir in one cup of bleu cheese. I use the treasure cove bleu cheese, I think it comes in a 4 oz block, I use the whole block. I tried the bleu cheese in the plastic container, it does not make as good a dressing.

    For Debbie and Elizabeth

    Liatris' Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

    1 1/3 cups buttermilk
2/3 cup mayonaise (substitute 1/3 cup yogurt cheese for part of the mayonaise, if desired)
    1 heaping teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh dill (use less if dill seeds are included)
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
    Salt and pepper to taste
    Pinch sugar
    Minced garlic to taste (optional)

    Wisk all together.

Go to http://www.canadianliving.com/cltv/recipes/tvrec112.htm for the original recipe which I modified. I found it by searching at google.com (a great search engine, BTW).

Hope this helps some! But as Good4me said ~~ stay away from the premade fat frees as they are full of sugar and higher in carbs!
