2009 ...A Year in Rememberance...

  • .

    .

What blew you away in 2009 ?

What are 1 or 2 (or more) .. things that happened this year that you will never forget...
Perhaps a moment that some call... "Where were you when"...

For me it was Miracle on the Hudson 1/15/2009
I still have a picture of that plane sitting on the Hudson with passengers standing on the wing... it inspires me...
  • The inauguration of President Obama. It felt like a historic day to me.

And yeah, the Miracle on the Hudson was definitely a feel-good moment for this year as well!
  • I remember the day after the election...I had some dental work done. The dentists assistant asked me what I thought about the election, before my dentist came in...I told her I was not in agreement with the outcome but thought that it was a great day in America nonetheless....

my dentist was not as "cordial" as I was.....

to hear them bantering back and forth....a 27 yr. old woman and a 45 yr. old man...both "WAY ON THEIR SIDE" of politics, was quite interesting...

when I had 2 hands in my mouth and couldn't respond to...."Well, Gary said it is a good thing for America too!"...or to "No he didn't...did you?...he is a (fill in the blank) too!"....
  • This is not a national event, but my husband's brother's home burned down in August of this year. They have three children, ages 15, 6 and 4. I was blown away by the generosity of our community. People they didn't know, churches they didn't attend brought clothes, food, and gift cards. It was truly amazing and humbling.
  • For me it's the tsunami in American Samoa- since my family lives there & it was a while before knowing if they were okay. It was also cool to see my community helping them- we have several Samoan football players for the Ducks and they organized drives to get water and supplies to them. It was awesome.

Also on a personal note- I became a first time home owner this year and that was quite significant for me and my husband. His sister is in labor now with our first niece/the first grandbaby and that's a pretty big life changing event.
  • my mother and my grandmother both passed away within 6 days of each other in november... that is my bad memory of 2009.

my son who has been on drugs for 3 years and who hasnt spoken to me in all that time, got clean and we have begun rebuilding our relationship.. that is a good part of 2009.
