New to measuring in ounces

  • I've started weighing in with the Wii which shows your weight to the ounce. This is new to me! So...weird question...

If the Wii says I am 219.8, do I get to say I weigh 219?
  • Yes.

On Sunday I was 208.9, and I totally claimed 208
  • Then yeah! I weigh 219! LOL!

(Now if I could only quite accidentally typing ONE 19. My fingers are apparently ready for one-derland.)
  • I ALWAYS round down!
  • As long as you always follow the same rule, it doesn't matter.

  • Many times I have said that I play head games with myself. My commitment to the numbers is "I will round like math" That is how I started and that I what I want to stay with.

So 254.4 will be 254...then my head says...well if I say 254 then next week it might not look like I have lost as much....I don't know how it works...it is my mind going like the energizer bunny!

Weekly I remind myself...we are rounding like I learned in math with the .5 going up
  • I'm like Cathy. I round as per standard math rules (My algebra teacher would be so proud!) .8 lbs is almost an entire lb and in a bad week, it could be all I lose. So I round up if it ends in .6 or .8 to honestly have a larger weight loss most weeks.
  • I've been inputting in by the ounce, no rounding. I use the Wii Fit too.
  • Maybe I'll stick to the real number, like you Rakel, because Cathy, I am obsessive like that too with the mind games.

I like the Wii fit because it keeps track and it seems to be rather accurate. I know my doctor's scale always measured me a good 15 lbs heavier than my home scale, and Wii seems to do the same thing.

That's how I do it too.
  • I had rounded down from 219.8 to 219. Then this morning, I weighed myself and found that I have lost 1.8 lbs, which takes me down to 218 even. But going from a rounded 219 down to just 218, well that feels like one pound. So I guess I have my own question. I think I will be using the decimal point.
