A little bit of hope!

  • I used to be a regular poster, and thought i would share a story about my journey and where i have got to. As of today i have lost 20 kg's ( 44lbs), not my goal, but close.

Anywaay the point of my story is- exactly 1 year ago today i travelled to a town called noosa because my parents were competing in a olympic distance triathlon. I weigh 200 lbs, and as i watched these amazing people running the last leg of their triathlon i thought to myself..there is no way in the world i could ever run 10km in my whole life. and i honestly believed that, i knew there was no hope.

This memory sticks with me forever, and somehow subconsiously i started training for a 10km, with no intention of ever running one. But when registrations came around this year, i decided to enter.

I cannot explain how amazing it felt to do this race, when i honestly believed i would not be capable of it, i trained my butt off for 6 months and it paid off.

When i finished my race and had a freezing glass of champagne in my hand, i finally realised that you can do anything you want, if you want it bad enough. It was one of the most amazing days of my life!

I just wanted to share my story, so any girls out there who really believe there is no hope, can see that that is not true.

Not only did i finish the 10km, but i finished it in 52minutes beating both my mum and dad, sister and 3 friends. (i know its not about winning, but MAN that felt good!)
  • on the 10k race! That is awesome! You truly are an inspiration. I've always admired runners and have started on my journey to become one! Congrats on all your success thus far!
  • Congratulations!

Isn't it amazing what you can accomplish when you quit telling yourself you can't and start telling yourself you CAN?
  • Way to go! That is such an amazing moment, and you deserved to savor it!

I am waiting for a moment of my own like that, and I do think a few of them are down the road
  • So amazing!! Thank you for sharing
