Is anyone putting a Med/Sonoma spin on their Thanksgiving dinner this year? Are you cooking, or going to someone else's place?
I'm going to be at my boyfriend's house, but neither of us want to cook so we're thinking of going to have Indian food. On Sunday, though, we're going to have a potluck with my family, and I'm trying to think of a good Med-friendly dish.
Well Hyacinth, here's my plan. I'm on call for Thanksgiving so I'll be in the hospital. I worked Thanksgiving a couple years ago so I know the hospital actually feeds us for free but I already have my menu planned. I've become a menu planning freak but that's another story. I'm making Turkey enchiladas-not exactly mediterranean but they are a Sonoma recipe (from the site, not the book). I've made them before and they are really good. I'm actually making them this weekend but the recipe makes 12 so I'm freezing some and taking some out for Thanksgiving. I haven't decided on a vegetable yet-will be something nonstarchy like green beans or brussel sprouts, or something like that. but I'm also going to try pears poached in portwine for dessert. I'm indulging in a dessert again for Thanksgiving but keeping it within the framework of the diet.
Don't you know if you have Sonoma books but the cookbook actually has some holiday recipes in the back. I made the sweetpotato cranberry bake thing a couple years ago and took it to work and people loved it.
