After thinking too much about introducing myself on this forum, here I go...

  • It's been a while since I last visited this site and I am back after a few years. I'm a 41yr old latin-canadian male living in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and even tho I've always thought of myself as being strong and independent, I find myself needing some encouragement and support to achieve a goal: TO GET MYSELF HEALTHY and in shape.

I've always been overweight (20-30 lbs over all of my life) but the past 3 years have been a little bit different because I have been putting on weight more than usual. At 5'8", I am 258 pounds which is the heaviest I've ever been. I went trough an emotional roller coaster lately dealing with my mother illness and then death but I don't want to use that as an excuse.

The time has come for me to take care of business and losing 70-75 pounds is the beginning. I am looking for and offer moral and emotional support through the process. From experience, I think I do better when I know I am accountable to someone.

I hope to find here some people I can share tips with and perhaps motivate each other to reach our goals. If you want, we can even do daily or weekly reports to compare notes and see what works or not in our programs.

Tips and suggestions are welcome! Have a nice day everyone and I hope to hear from some of you.

  • Hi davilade!
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

So many here have been (or are) where you are now and can certainly relate to the emotional roller coaster that comes with weight issues - I've been on that ride a lot - taking care of an invalid mother for years before her passing as well! I'm confident that you will be successful in meeting your goals - so many have proven that it can be done!

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
