  • Good morning!

It seems as if our thread had dwindled down to just a couple of strands

If anyone is lurking and would like to join in please do so. We started this thread to form a support network for Lifetimers who are at goal, struggling, or anyone else who is near maintenance. We'd love to have you!

Last week I was off on vacation in PA Dutch country and let me tell you that the portions in some of the places were beyond large. It amazes me that people will eat everything on their plate. One observation I did make when I was in the Strasburg Train Museum, they had plates from dining cars and the size of the plates were around the size of a luncheon plate, maybe even a tad smaller. A dinner plate today is way larger! I thought that was very interesting.

I did do a lot of walking but the weather didn't really warrant strolls through parks because it rained each of the days we were there.

Lisa: How are things going with you? Has the weather cooled any in Florida? We really haven't had a good Fall so far. I'm hoping the weather clears a little today so that I can get outside and do some yard work. I have another busy weekend ahead of me so yard work is on the back burner for the weekend.

Lori: How is work going? Are you getting into a better routine with Phoebe?

I'm still struggling with my eating but I'm working towards not snacking so much in the evening--that's when I get into a lot of trouble! I get relaxed, then bored, then go out into the kitchen. I'm feeling much better in terms of my thyroid. I'm not as tired as I was before and actually feel the best I have in quite a while.

I hope everyone is doing well!
  • Melissa, Yes, it appears that folks aren't here that much. I think people are moving to Facebook? I don't care for it myself.

I'm struggling with food, too. I don't know what it is. I get so hungry in the afternoon and folks have Halloween candy around and you know what happens.

You are so right about the size of portions and plates!

I'm glad that your thyroid is behaving.

Our weather has really cooled off--could open the windows which I love. We are going to get warm this weekend though.

I'm doing a 5K walk for breast cancer on Saturday. That is always a huge event. I'm trying to convince DH to walk it with me. (He wants to run it--LOL).

Speaking of DH, he ran the Indy Marathon last weekend and did really well. He was surprised because he hadn't really trained that much.
  • Honestly Facebook keeps "updating" and changing things that it's been aggravating! I was off on Monday. DH and I went to the Browns-Packers game on Sunday and stayed overnight rather than driving back. We went to the West Side Market and Trader Joe's on Monday so it was a leisurely trip back home. The weather was gorgeous both days and today so far is nice--high 50's and sunny.

My weight is crazy--this past week I was up 6# which is so not like me. I don't know what's going on but have been trying to stay focused. It's hard when you get hit with a gain like that. I'm in another whole number that I never wanted to see and am trying hard to get back down. We'll see what this week brings. I'm feeling better in terms of the tiredness and my hair has stopped falling out, now I need to focus on this weight gain!

Lisa, how did the walk go over the weekend? Did it get too warm? I love the Fall with the warm days and cool nights, although our warm is about the mid 60's.
  • Melissa, The walk was great with 5,000 people, but very hot! We have been having unseasonably warm weather here. A couple weeks ago, we were teased with highs in the 60's (like heaven). Lately it's 80's and very humid. I'm glad your weather shaped up.

Sorry about the Browns. I sure wish we had a Trader Joe's here--never been to one, but I hear they are great.

Ugh--the weight gain--that must make you mad. I've been struggling as well. Woke up on Saturday and decided to go WI even though I wasn't where I wanted to be up. I was up a pound; doesn't sound bad, but I was up a pound last month, so it just keeps climbing.
