  • So my husband's been trying to lose weight for all of 2 1/2 weeks. He's working out 5 days a week on the elliptical and cutting back on calories in addition to eating better. He started at 278 pounds, and is 6 feet, 2 inches tall. 2 1/2 weeks later he's at 268. 10 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks. I GAINED five pounds my first month!

Today he's griping to me, and has been on the verge of quitting all week. Why? Because he got on the scale this morning (wednesday), after weighing in at 268 on SUNDAY, and STILL weighs 268. He thinks he's eating too much, even though he's taking in 2,500 to 2,700 calories a day.

We were just on the phone and he refuses to listen to me! It's like I DIDN'T lose 80 pounds and have no CLUE what I'm talking about! He even hung up on me when I was arguing with him!!

    Grrrr....aaaaahhhhh...argh....:devil :
  • Tell him stop acting like a woman lol.

I think people tend to forget hey it took me a while to get this way and it's going to take me a while to get where I used to be. I'd be THRILLED if I lost 10 lbs in two weeks!

If he feels he's eating too much why wouldn't he just eat less? Wouldn't "quitting" equate to eating badly and more again? I say let him go down to 2000-2200 calories- for him he'll still be fine I'd guess

omg lol that's awesome. If I could find the little smiley of the thing laying on the floor laughing, I would.

Seriously, MEN ARE BABIES. Use your frustration to work out at the gym, or punch a punching bag, or something.
  • Lol hope I didn't offend anyone with that- I constantly ask my husband when he's going to get off his period- that usually mellows him out
  • Quote: Tell him stop acting like a woman lol.
    My sentiments exactly!!

Mindi, my husband does whiny thing too. He's proud of me for sticking to it, but now he does this mopey thing and says "you're going to be all hot and skinny and I'm not *insert pouty face* This from the man who can lose doing Body For Life eating Snickers bars for his "meals". I just want to back hand him sometimes and tell him to get off his arse and do it then if he wants to!

And I agree, men have some monthly mood swing just like we do!
  • Does he understand about initial water loss?

I ask my roommates if they have PMS. Its all good
  • Mindi I love your stories about your husband...they are so funny...

Unless someone is holding their hand I swear they cant do anything
  • I've told him and told him that the losses may slow down, and some weeks he may not lose at all. I'm preparing myself NOW for those weeks...the whining will be at an all-time high....

It's crazy how much faster a man can lose weight than a woman. His pants are already fitting better after such a short time, and it took me months to go down a size...just not fair!!

But I've decided that if he doesn't want to listen to me, so be it. I'll let HIM set his calorie total for the day, as low as he wants. He'll believe me eventually once he's starving...
  • I walk away from my bf when he gets that way. I tell him what I'm feeling, and when he is still grumpy I leave him alone so he cn calm down.

He'll realize He likes losing weight and if he wants to do that then he'll have to continue at what he's doing.

I tell mine to put on his big girl panties and make sure he has his purse. Sometimes I tell him to be sure and straighten his skirt before he sits down.
  • All I can say to this whole thread is LOL!
  • hehehe
  • Too funny!

I sometimes ask mine if he wants a manpon?

THAT. IS. FRICKIN'. AWESOME. I'm totally going to use that one on my boyfriend! I usually go with the generic "when does your period end?" when he gets grumpy or whiny.
