I lost 50 lbs in about 5 months through exercise and calorie counting.

That being said, I strongly encourage you to find a plan that will work for long-term weight loss - not necessarily QUICK weight loss. Honestly - many chickies that lose weight fast, end up putting it back on with a few more lbs. besides.

The speed of the loss isn't the goal, the permanence of the loss is.

    Which is better?
Losing 50 lbs quickly by using unhealthy means, then ending up feeling bad, jeapordizing your health and eventually gaining the weight back?
    or
Losing the weight in a healthy lifestyle change way and feeling and looking great. Enjoying the journey and keeping the weight off for the rest of your life.

Trust me. It didn't matter one little bit that it took me a year to lose 95 lbs. Now, 14 months later, what matters is that I have changed my life in such a way that I can maintain that loss. I am strong, healthy, happy and fit
  • thanks i dont know where to start I've tried eatting 1200 cals a day but it never works for me i end up not counting after the 1st week i go to the gym 3 times a week and im active for at least 3omins a day i tried slim fast. and also wu yi tea that didnt work so im just stuck and confused ill give counting cals another try.
  • Check out the stickies on the calorie counter forum. Starting at 1200 calories might not be the best for you.

I found several things that worked for me (my goal story has more of my plan).
    In a nutshell:
Eating clean (whole foods as much as possible)
Eating often (6 small meals a day)
Balancing my eating (carbs/protein/fat at every meal/snack)
Exercise daily (walking, yoga, weights, ANYTHING)
Logging my exercise/weight/food - accountability is key

And, if calorie counting doesn't work - why not try WW - some folk find counting points or exchanges easier than calories.

And - do use an online/computer tracker for calorie counting - it makes it so much easier! (fitday, sparkpeople, daily plate, diet diary, etc.)
  • thanks =}
  • Yeah diet pills are crap, used em' and really slimmed down my purse, nothin else..
  • JazZieB, I just want to encourage you, keep on doin what you're doin!! You CAN get there by counting healthy calories and working out, just be consistant and stick to it. When you get discouraged, come here and read about others, that helps me. You can do it!
