  • WELCOME!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

  • Just wanted to say thanks to everyone you all were nice and supportive for me at the end of the last thread about me falling off the track. I was at the gym this morning and feel very happy about it all.

I also found out this morning that I AM PREGNANT. I cannot belive it. There is defo hope out there. We have been trying for 4 years. Fertility drugs etc. I loose two stone, give up trying and fall pregnant. It is totally mad really. I am over the moon -daning on air... However I am very worried I am 253lbs now and done want to be 353lbs when I have this baby, I could not bear that. How possible is it for a woman my size to continue to loose weight the whole way through a pregnancy. I am going to the doctor tomorrow to see if i can continue with my high intence workouts and eating habbits. I will go crazy if I cant
  • Good Morning girls...

  • Good morning, ladies! Just passing through. My weigh in was this morning, and I’m down 3 lbs. That brings me to 359.2, and only about 9 lbs away from my first mini goal! That will bring me to my original start weight back in 2005. It also brings me to over 20 lbs lost now, so I’m thrilled. It was SO nice to see the 350’s again…even though it’s high, it’s a step in the right direction.

Well, I’ve gotta get going. Lots of homework to do, and then heading to the gym. Have a great day!

Emily – So good to see you here. Glad you are doing well.

ParadiseP – CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That’s just excellent news. And I would think you’d be able to continue with eating & exercise (as long as you don’t overdo it) for at least the first few months, as long as you get the essential nutrients into your body, you know? But definitely ask the doctor about it.

Heather hb – I definitely know what you mean. Every time I do cardio, my body just responds better, and each day that I lift weights, my body just FEELS so much stronger. Such a great feeling.
  • Emily GREAT TO 'see' YOU!!!!! I love s/w BUt once I follow it the weight drops off....Staying with it is the problem.... Good luck with the interview.xxxxxx
Paradise WOWEEEE CONGRATULATIONS!!!!I got pregnant at about your weight & was fine BUT you know the Dr can advise you as will your midwife. W/W I think..AND Slimming World allow you to follow their plans; with extra alowances; so you don't have to gain too much or any weight. xxxxxxx
Well just cooking Shepherd's pie mmmmm so I'd better check nothing is burning, lol!
    xxxxxxxsharon
WTG Kayley on exercising! I did it today & feel better for it, but I was shaky afterwards.xxxxx
  • ParadiseP - CONGRATS! I think you can totally keep on with the weight loss, or at the very least take steps to make you feel good and healthy! CONGRATS!

Kayleystar - WOOHOO on the weight loss. You can do it!

    *********
I'm SO bad with exercising lol. I'm creating this mini-goal system for myself with daily goals in order to DO IT lol. Right now though I'm fatigued, TOM is right around the corner. The idea of jumping around makes me go "hmmmmms" though I don't want to sit around either. I swear I just want to kick myself! lol I can only do walking in short bursts as I get terribly bored, even with music. I wish I could just go hiking in the woods...now THAT would be a hoot. But I walk around a neighborhood and get bored lol.

I have been a bit active, doing this and that, tonight I have to venture to the Avenue to take a gander at some possible new duds. I have noticed my clothes are getting a bit too loose, like my jeans sags. I mean they are stretch denim, but the problem is when you wash them they fit WONDERFULLY for like five minutes. Then they start to sag...a day later they look so big. lol.

Ahhh we'll see...*HUGS* Hope everyone is doing well!
  • Greetings my Peeps!

Para, congratz!!!!! Eating correctly will allow you to maintain or even lose weight during your pregnancy. You'll be ok! Talk to your doc and keep us up to date. Your bundle of joy will have a bunch of online auntie chicks.

BikerChick and BikerMa got together this weekend for the Great Peanut Tour in Emporia, VA. The weather was beeeeautiful! BikerMa got there on Thurs and did 25 miles per day (100 for the weekend). Her best friend, Joanne (who is 82) did the same. Amazing huh? I got there late Friday and did 25 on Sat and Sun. I got pooped by mile 20. I'd been riding between 8-10 miles a couple times weekly and one can easily double the distance stamina-wise. I just got pooped at 20, although I pushed it to the end. phew.. time to get rid of these extra 120 lbs!

    Hugs to all,
    Ratkity
  • ah thanks everyone ... yea I do think that i can keep loosing or at least staying the same. I was 269lbs when I gave birth to dd and am 253lbs now (obviously i put on load of weight after last pregnancy too). So I am lighter now than I was when giving birth the first time so if I can get another 14-20lbs off before 3rd trimester I will be fine. My heavest weight was 292lbs and could not go back to that
  • I've spent the morning going through tax papers photocopying stuff for the bank. We are going to get a car finally. I have to prove that I've been paying taxes here for at least 2 years before they will accept that I'm not going to get the car and run away, I guess. I do so love paperwork.
  • Hi gals - CONGRATS Paradise! Catherine - Cool! What sort of car will you be getting? Ratkitty - 25 miles a day!? wow! Glad you had great weather for it! Jacquie: have you thought about other types of exercise? I'm trying to challenge myself to do one thing "out of the ordinary" each week during September. The first week I went on a golf outing. The second week I subbed in on a friend's sand volleyball team. This week I'm playing in a charity kickball tournament. I haven't decided what I will do next week - any ideas? Voodoo - you're always cooking something that sounds yummy - do you have recipes posted!? I'm always looking for new things to make in the kitchen! Kayley - congrats on getting so close to your first mini-goal I LOVE hearing all the great success stories! HB - I know what you meant - whenever I "conquer" a workout, I feel in-control, strong, healthy, and motivated. And then factor in the endorphins - Woo hoo look out world!

As for me - well I overslept this morning *boooohiss* so I missed my gym this morning. My husband seems to have woken up with the stomach flu and he's moaning around the house today. I'm trying to be sympathetic and not irritable about it. Work is going to kick me in the teeth. I need large amounts of focus and discipline this week and I'm not starting off very well. But! Last night I dreamt I was at a very fancy store, shopping for a party dress in a size 12. I'm not sure what that was about, but I remember a particularly pretty olive green one. It was a happy dream, and I was thrilled that everything I was trying on looked good on me. I'm going to try to hold on to that dream as another motivator on the long, long road to that size 12.

    Have a great day girls!
  • paradisep- my neice is pregnant and is counting carbs she i losing right thru her pregnacy and the baby seems to be growing perfect! Best of luck to you and it will be exciting for us all to follow your pregnacy and see pictures of your little one when it arrives.

RAt_ how did your mom and aunt to it???? THey amaze me! IM proud of you for your miles..that is awesome!!

hugs to all..heading to the playground
  • thanks dgramine, i need to start writing all the things down that i eat....
  • BikerChic - way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Susannahc - I think I do need to get out more. The best I've ever felt, I was actually just active, going places, touring places, walking all day. I actually wanted to go see this wolf reserve and go hiking, but my boyfriend is not ready to do that yet. I wonder if I could go learn golf or something. I am looking for some new DVDs to keep me entertained. I know I can't go walking for more than an hour or I just feel like I'm going to zone out lol. I have a Tabeo DVD that I couldn't do when I was 300+ pounds, perhaps I should find that and give it a go. See you and Heather have me all excited to go try things!!! haha..
    ******

I was so excited tonight, even though the past two nights I have done HORRIBLY with eating. God...like binge city I think. Junk food type things. BAD! I'm hormonal...my cravings are horrid...I really do have to resist it...TOM isn't here yet. GRRRR START! lol... Tomorrow I'm being strict with myself, which dawned on me this evening as I ate junk food, that I NEED to be strict when my hormones are raging. So, fruit and salad time.

Anyhow, I went to a few places this evening, couldn't find what I wanted. Went to Target, looked at this one section that isn't the "plus size," but it has 2XL things. So, I thought I would give it a go. I held up some sleep pants, very stretchy material, and thought "hmmmmm." So, I went and bought em and they fit! Well, I could have gotten away with the 1XL possibly, but they totally fit. I really thought they wouldn't fit well. The problem now is I'm short. They are WAY to long, but hey, cheap and for sleeping, I don't care. I'm just excited that when it comes to stretchy things I'm starting to get into those lower sizes.

I hope everyone is doing well. Going to have a very light day food wise tomorrow. I need a reboot day. *HUGS*
  • Good evening! Just wanted to check in briefly to say that I am still around and still reading! I've had a busy couple weeks at work, but I think there will be a lull now, so I should have more time to post. Food-wise, I could be doing better. I've had a lot of late nights and early mornings so quick and easy seems to be the diet lately. Now I'll do a bit more planning so it'll be quick, easy, and most importantly, healthy.

Weight is still up but still retaining water. TOM came and went and now I'm having a flare up with my knee & ankle. Here's hoping they are back to normal soon so I can see what the damage really is.
