i have a wedding to go this weekend and today i went shopping b/c all my "fat" clothes are too big and all my "skinny" clothes are too small. even though there were highlights on this trip, like a size L actually FITTING me, i just looked fat and weird in all the summer dresses and tops. the material is all jersey and it just clings to every roll and i HATE my arms. my arms seem to be staying the same size so far...

ugh.. i ended up coming home empty handed and am just miserably depressed. when did shopping stop being fun?

I ***HATE*** shopping. My boyfriend loves to shop, but hates shopping with me. I end up very depressed, angry, sad, lonely, and miserable for the rest of the day. Hate, hate, hate it.

My husband dislikes shopping with me for clothes as well. It just ... throws me back to the fact that I'm still not there. However, if I go shopping ALONE I feel way better.

I get depressed and grumpy too. I hate shopping for clothes even after losing some weight. I think the current fashions are hideous too. So unflattering. Luckily I haven't had to go shopping in a year. I just took all my pants in myself when I lost weight. They aren't perfect but it saves money until I reach my goal and I get to keep the clothes I do like.

I agree. I think part of the problem is that so much cheapo jersey stuff is passed off as real clothing these days

Jersey sucks, there is no structure at all. It does let every lump and bump show. Are there any other stores you could shop at that have more structured clothing? If you can't find anything other then jersey or other fabrics like it maybe you could try wear spanx underneath?

I'm not gonna lie, I looooove love love shopping. I'm not sure why.. I have my own body issues but I just love buying new clothes, it makes me feel hot for a minute. Even if a month later I think I look fat and ugly in it at least for those first couple times I wore it I felt hot.

Now if I really lose all the weight I want I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to put another dresser in my room and maybe a closet railing on my wall

I HATE shopping! I go and look at all these super cute clothes that I KNOW are going to look just awful on me and I don't even go there. The closest I get is pulling out some of my old clothes and trying them on and that makes me feel bad enough as it is.

I'm trying to make what I have already work because I just refuse to buy new clothes since I don't plan to stay at this weight for very long.

oh, shopping is fun! but I rarely find exactly what I need when I have decided to look for it.
its also a weird time to shop for something you want to wear now. Not your fault, just that stores stock for the upcoming season.
So, summer stuff is on sale, but its all the stuff that there was an over abundance of or just crappy and didn't get bought (save for a few treasures one may find). Then there is all the brand new fall stuff but that probably isnt weather appropriate for something this weekend.

Don't feel bad. The odds of anyone finding a dress to wear (that they love or are very happy with) for an event in a day or two are very slim--even with zero body issues.

Angelina jolie has a team of people constantly searching and arranging outfits for her. It takes alot of time. and effort.

So hang in there, see if you can borrow something or emergency tailor one of the outfits you have that doesnt fit right.

Anyway--just know it is not you.

I love clothes shopping. I love purse shopping too. I don't do it much but I do plan to buy a few staple items every 20 lbs or so.

Shopping is something I have to psych myself up for. Even when I do I'm ok for only about an hour or so. After that I start feeling depressed. Especially now that I've lost nearly 35lbs and yet I still haven't moved from a size 16 to a size 14. FRUSTRATING!!! And I have to be very careful about the first thing I try on. It better fit or else I'm outta there and off to Burger King to drown my sorrows in mayonnaise.

Some advice I'd like to give you though - don't wear jersey to a wedding. Even if it's a casual morning wedding, the material is simply not suitable for this kind of event. When I think jersey I think a sundress to go to the beach with a swimsuit underneath, or just walking to the grocery store or something like that. Hope you have some luck finding something, I've been there!

well it seems like this summer was all about draping and tunics. the dresses i was trying on werent like jersey sundresses, but wrap dresses in solid colors. jersey and modal just seem to be the fabrics right now!

i feel the same way as meowmix, i refuse to buy clothes at this weight b/c i dont want to give myself any more reasons to stay here. so basically im either swimming in everything i wear, or im wrapped up like a sausage in cotton casing.

ugh.

Haha that made me seriously laugh . . I say all the time (when I try something on that's to tight that is) that I feel like a stuffed sausage!

Oh yeah I hate jersey/modal fabric. Yuck! I rethought this and if I'm shopping to be in the most current style I hate it. If I'm shopping for a more timeless look I have a good time. Maybe as I slim down I will like trendier styles.
