Net carbs.. real carbs... fiber.. holy geez!

  • I have been off plan for several months. I am about to get my fat butt back on track, but I forget about the carbs, sugar, net carbs, fiber. I can't remember how to look at a label and know the real carb content, according to Atkins plan.

    I would appreciate a refresher!

  • My understanding is this:
    Example....

    Carbohydrates=25 gms
    Fiber=5 gms

    Net Carbs=20 gms

    You subtrack the fiber from the carbs to get NET carbs.
  • Net carbs are calculated by deducting dietary fiber from the total carb count. In other words, if the total carb content is 4 carbs & the dietary fiber is 2 grams....the total net carbs would be 2. Hope this helps
