Losing v/s removing

  • Our WW leader had this discussion yesterday, and I really liked her point. She said - "Losing means something went away unknowingly and you are sad about it and want it back. However, removing means you deliberately removed it away. So lets talk about removing weight not losing weight".

    Don't you guys agree?
  • Interesting. Thanks for sharing
  • Yes, I have heard that before. When you lose something you want to find it and we DON'T want to find those pounds ever again...they are GONE!!!
  • I like it!
  • i'm not in Weight Watchers but yeah, I like this. "Removing" sounds much more pro-active than "losing".
  • Although I just say "I lost such and such" I prefer removing as well, since it implies effort and desire. A friend of mine who has lost 75+ lbs so far has kept track of her weekly weight loss since she began and always refers to it as removal.
  • I like it too. I always thought losing was the wrong word, but didn't know what to replace it with.
  • I like that as a little mental game as well. I'm like Julie, I've always disliked "losing" but couldn't work out an alternative - removing works really well!
