4th day of Atkins - I love it!!!

  • Today is my fourth day of Atkins and I have to say I'm loving it so far. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I've had problems with binge and compulsive over eating. I got as high as 245 pounds. Then I started significantly lowering my calories and of course lost some but gained a lot back. Basically I would binge/restrict, binge/fast, binge/restrict and so on. Every time I binge I feel absolutely awful. Doing Atkins, I don't feel hungry. The protein I'm consuming is really filling and I don't have to worry about calories (though I still count them, a bit neurotic about that). I read Atkins for life and wow, such an inspiring book. Lose weight & live longer. That's definitely worth sticking to. Now, I'm reading Atkins Diet Revolution and there's parts about binge eating. The testimonials sound just like me. Clearly, I was a carbohydrate addict.

Here's a bit of my diary entry from yesterday.
Atkins is going pretty well for me. The protein is really filling and I'm amazed that I'm losing weight even when I eat more calories than I'd like to. I think low carb dieting is the way to go...It's amazing how fast I can reach my goal if I just stick to the program. I need to eventually cut out diet sodas as I'm well aware...I actually think Atkins is one way I can solve my eating disorder. I can eat normally and lose weight which is great. I don't feel so guilty about eating a normal amount of calories as long as I don't eat over my carb allowance...Right now I feel happy and hopeful.

Anyways, I'm sure your experiences with the program have been similar and am looking forward to reading your stories and incorporating the low carb lifestyle even more into my routine. !
  • I am also going low carb....tomorrow is 2 weeks finished. I love that if I am hungry I can eat...it just has to be protein....I don't feel deprived (although I miss milk).

Keep it up and I hope you reach your goal....good luck to you

Glad to hear! We're the same height and have similar starting weights and goals.
  • Good luck to you and it is nice to see another Star Trek fan here.
  • The lack of hunger is what convinced me too. That and the fact I feel better physicially, but a big part is not having that overwhelming hunger, the feeling of still needing more even though I just ate. Once I dropped carbs, that went away.
