Prednisone and Me

  • How many out there are older....and have had inflammatory diseases like the one I have. Temporal arteritis causes inflammation of the arterities in your head. I was diagnosed with it over a year ago. I have been on varying dosage levels of this drug since then. It has made me look like a chipmunk cheeked, pregnant lady....and I am 66 years old. Not cute...not funny. I am now down to 7.5 mg. a day, hoping to get off the drug entirely. Hopefully, then, my body will start to lose some of the weight and puffiness. Prednisone gives you an enormous appetite. I am going to have to control what I eat and how much. I think I will do better on low carb....I don't think I could do no carb for too long. Fatigue is really a bad side effect and need some carbs to keep going. Any suggestions for diets...Sugar Busters perhaps. Any success stories of people losing weight after being on prednisone for a long time? Thanks.
  • Hi and welcome to 3FC!

I don't take prednisone but there's a thread here about it if you want to check it out - http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/diet...ight-loss.html

    Good luck with your goals.

    Hugs
    Michelle
  • No experience with that, but wanted to welcome you! Hopefully someone will have some information for you!
  • Thanks Robyn and Michelle. You make me feel most welcome. Hopefully, I can find people who have had to take prednisone as I have, and have a plan to get the weight off too. Michelle, I read your story and I am thrilled for you. After all, you were a TN girl....and, so am I. It is a great testimony of what a determined person can do. I am so sorry you have had so many losses in such a short time. Hopefully, you will have much joy ahead of you.
  • Thank you so much!

You CAN do this and we are here to cheer you on
