Atkins Dieter vs. Food Monster

  • Hi everyone...

I am an Atkins Dieter who has encountered the Food Monster in my house yesterday!

I cheated SO bad yesterday!...It was the second day of my 6th week -- I've lost 15.5 lbs since June 28th.

I was happy on the diet and feeling good - then yesterday - I didn't eat breakfast because I was very busy - and my kids ordered Papa John's Pizza at about 1:00 -- when it came, I was starving & tired, so I grabbed a slice & immediately after I downed it - felt horrible! But did I stop there, NO...I had another piece about a 1/2 hour later (cold) --

Then I made meatloaf (Atkins style - more cheese/no breadcrumbs) and Spinach and French Fries (for the family)...I ate the meatloaf & a bowl of spinach. (and then came back & grabbed a handful of french fries)

Then while I was watching TV -- I felt depressed - and got up - went in the kitchen -- microwaved a leftover piece of Papa John's pizza & grabbed 8 cookies & a glass of milk & dunked away!

Went to bed - really upset with myself - and feeling sick & woke up the same way today!

    HELP!
  • aww im sorry i wish i had better advice but the best thing i can say is stick to plan today!! remember, yesterday is in the past..cant change anything but the future and you can do it good luck!
  • Whenever I have a day that is really off-plan, I tell myself that maybe it will kickstart my metabolism--mix things up with my body--and that if I do well the next day, my body won't know what hit it! Kind of like cycling, right?

May be true, may not be true. Either way, just do your best today!
  • Ohh I'm sorry

Well, today is a new day, brush off your knees and start again.. you can do it
  • I love istakya's attitude - to consider it a metabolism kickstart and just forgive yourself.

Pizza isn't so bad if you just eat the top and trash the bottom and crust... I had it for dinner a few nights back. I wouldn't choose it for myself, but when the whole family is having it just the top beats feeling deprived or being too hungry and then giving in...
  • I always find myself cheating (or getting a really bad urge to cheat) when I skip meals or feel starved and tired.

When you get back on track (and I know you will!!!!) make sure you stay well-fed. And good luck! Don't beat yourself up about it--you learned something, amirite?
  • It's easy, carbs are addictive. It's really not you, it's the addiction. Forgive yourself, move on.

What I think works best is to do a full detox - induction - at least 3 days, a week is better. Back down to 20 grams. Then you should have better control. It is hard though, for those of us who are addicted. Big hugs.
  • The best thing to do is NOT to weigh yourself today. Chances are you are retaining water BIG TIME and why bum yourself out...even though rationally you know it is water weight alone. OK?

Next, get back on plan on induction to get you back into ketosis and move forward. This is something you want to get yourself healthy with for life and life has bumps in the road and part of this is learning how to bounce back from these bumps.

Yesterday was water under the bridge....let it go and go forward back on plan. Good Luck!
  • Get back to plan and don't weigh yourself until having been back on induction for a week! Hopefully you will find a happy suprise!! Don't beat yourself up! It happens! Life would be SOOOOO BORING!! if we were all perfect!!
