What's your favorite slow cooker recipe book?

  • I finally have a nice slow cooker that has a removable crock-it's the oblong one to replace my tradional Rival CrockPot from the '80's. I'd like to invest in a good crock pot recipe book.

Which book do you absolutely love? Rate your crock pot cook books please.

  • Angie and I and the kids love this one...probably the one we used the most when all 4 kids lived at home...easy too!

1 1/2 lbs. Beef Flank steak, cut into about 6 pieces
    1 c. chopped onion
2 bell peppers, cut into strips
    1 jalapeno pepper, chopped (optional)
    2 tbsp chopped cilantro
    2 cloves minced garlic
    1 tsp chili powder
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
1 8oz. can drained chopped or dices tomatoes
    12 tortillas
Toppings of your choice like cheese, salsa, sour cream

Combine all ingredients (excepts tortillas and toppings) into the slow cooker and stir. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hrs. Take beef out of the pot and shred with fork and return to pot. Serve wrapped in the tortillas and add toppings.

  • oops...I didn't see "book"...I just saw recipe...oh well

    I just use the internet
  • I love my slow cooker, but like EZ, I don't use a recipe book. (Actually, I don't even own any recipe books. I bet that's true of a lot of people my age - it just isn't necessary anymore.)

My favorite recipe site is Recipezaar, so until you find a book that you like, try this link: http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes.ph...%2Frecipes.php
It's a search for all things tagged both "crock pot" and "healthy," sorted with the highest rated recipes first.
  • Thanks for the website Mayness it looks great!
  • I have a great "Taste of Home" crock pot book.
  • I have a Low-Carb Slowcooker recipe book that is one of my favorites.

Can we post links? I guess it'll be removed if we can't. But the author's are Broihier and Mayone. http://www.amazon.com/Everyday-Low-C.../dp/1569244286
