I am wondering if anyone out there knows how many points the Superstore (Canada) muffins are worth.

I am referring to the large muffins that come in an assortment of blueberry, choc chip, bran and fudge.

I have been counting them as 6 points for the 3" diameter but i think this might be wrong.

Do they have the nutritional information on them? If so, you can calculate it based on that. If not, what do they weigh?

It may be wishful thinking to expect that those muffins are only 6 pts, especially the chocolate chip ones. The low-fat Tim Hortons muffins are 4 points (except raspberry, which are 5), and they are MUCH smaller than the Superstore ones (which of course would also have more fat). You might try asking if the bakery department can provide you with the nutritional information. If not, I would skip those monster muffins and stick with something you can accurately count.

My guess is about 9 points..

here is a great recipe for muffins.. and these are huge!!!
You only need two items:
chocolate cake mix
pumpkin filling - not PIE FILLING
that's it! nothing else - just mix and bake.

bake according to instructions on cake mix box

4 points each.. these are huge!!
If you don't like pumpkin - don't worry about it - all you can taste is the chocolate
I've given them to kids and they love 'em.

You might even be able to count these as a veggie??

If the Superstore has a website - you can email them and in most instances they will be happy to send you the nutritional information.

Blueberry (610 cal/32 g fat/2 g fiber) 14.5 points
Maple (920 cal, 41 g fat, 5 g fiber) 21 (21.5) points
Chocolate (690 cal, 38 g fat, 3 g fiber) 16.5 points
Orange Cranberry (690 cal, 38 g fat, 3 g fiber) 16.5 (yes, same as the chocolate)
Almond Poppy (670 cal, 38 g fat, 2g fiber) 16.5 points

Boy, i have been screwing up my points big time. No wonder i wasn't seeing results. Thanks so much for the information. These muffins will never enter my home again.

Sounds like a good idea to keep those muffins out of your house. Can you imagine that a muffin could have almost 40% fat, as the Costco ones do? In my old way of eating I would have been THRILLED to wolf down a huge Costco or Superstore-sized muffin (as must others since this "biggie-size" thing is increasingly popular). It's quite an education once you start to pay attention to nutritional information.

I have never bought pumpkin filling. I was just wondering what should i look for. I mean is it in a box? Dry or not? Who carries it?

The pumpkin filling slimdown mentioned is simply pure pumpkin in a can. If you look where the canned pie fillings are in the store you'll see canned pure pumpkin. I usually stock up on Libby's brand when it's on sale. I believe it's the 15 oz. can you need for the muffin recipe.

Just make sure it's not pie filling. You can normally find it where the baking supplies are or in the health food sections of some stores too!
This will make 12 very large muffins. Just freeze some or else you will be tempted to eat more then one.

I can't believe those costo muffins!! I used to eat those at our morning meetings when I worked. ouch!

I made the same mistake when I started with the point system. I was so thrilled to be able to eat anything as long as it was in point range. I saw these yummy muffins, bought them home, and figured out the points, I just about passed out! I froze them and my DH and DS finally ate them up.

Like I said above, I am new and really enjoying this site. Started WW again yesterday. I have several pounds to lose. WW is the only thing that has worked for me.

I just made a batch of those chocolate muffins. They were great and my kids loved them.

I don't like pumpkin but i could not taste it at all. They were only 3 points each. I used the Betty Crocker Chocolate Cake mix and a can of pure pumpkin.
