Beware Tasti D-Lite

  • I always assumed these soft-serve ice creams were low-calorie, but noticed they don't have calories posted. So I looked it up online. 80-90 calories--for a QUARTER cup! Ice cream is usually measured in HALF cup servings. So it's really 160-180--not counting the swirl--which could double that.
  • I had heard they were fairly low-cal before so your post surprised me, and I looked it up (even though I think the nearest location to me is 4 hours away).

Edited to add: no way, there's one in my city! I figured they were one of those businesses who forget that there's more to NY state than NYC.

According to their web site, all the flavors are about 70-80 calories for a half cup (4 fluid ounces). Maybe the site you looked at wrote the serving size incorrectly?
  • A lot of places have servings sizes but then a cup or a cone is 3.2 servings or something. Sometimes you just have to be on your toes. Plus I'm wondering since we had a store near us that was tasti-d-lite or something similar that did water and soy based icecream.
  • Mayness--you are absolutely right--I was confusing ounces in a pound with ounces in a cup. It has 70-90 calories in 4 fl. oz., which is not bad.
