Veggies & Points

  • Are cooked veggies and raw veggies given the same point value? TIA.
  • Unless you alter them with butter or oil or dips, then yes
  • Velveteen is right about a lot of veggies, but cooking them can change the points value of some veggies because cooking them can change the volume. For example, 1 cup of uncooked carrots is 0 points, but 1 cup of cooked carrots is 1 point. Green peas are 2 points for 1 cup uncooked, and 3 points for 1 cup cooked. (That seems like a lot of peas either way, lol, but that's how the WW food companion book lists them.) On the other hand, zucchini is the same, cooked or raw. It's best to check the book for whichever veggie you have in mind.
  • For onions and carrots it changes the point value because the heat releases more sugar.
