To keep the book or not to keep the book

  • That is my question.

I feel like I've reached the end of an era; I've gotten down to the last page of my paper calorie journal. This little book lasted me 5 months and helped me go from 286 to 243 as of this morning and I'm feeling oddly sentimental. It's got things like what I had for dinner at my best friend's wedding in it.

So for those of you out there who keep a paper journal what do you do with it when you're done? Should I just throw it out. Should I keep it? I wrote down the calories of all the things I tend to order when I'm out on the backs of the pages and I'm already updating and expanding that in my new journal. I'm just wondering if I ever fall off the path and regain it all if it would be helpful to see the little steps along the way.
  • i dont have a journal-but i personally would keep it..im kinda sentimental like that congrats on the 43 lbs btw!!!!
  • Definitely keep it. I was just going through some of my old journals and WW member cards last night.

Great reminders on where I used to be and how I've changed my eating habits since then.

They're 3 years old and I still consider them valuable tools
  • I kept my last one. Every few weeks I pull it out to see the progress I've been making.
  • I would keep it for a little while anyway, and then see how you feel.
  • Why would you throw it out? You may want to look things up in it at some point.

    Jay
  • keep it! who knows what you could do with it..
maybe give it to someone that is having trouble with counting calories and they can use it as a reference.
  • I print out my monthy GWF reports and keep them. I also print out all my food journal pages, and exercise journal pages to keep them. They go in a binder along with my before pictures, and my progress pictures. Also in that binder are personal journal pages, that track my moods, problems, achievements. I can't imagine how great its going to be to look back on it.
  • If you're having trouble parting with it, put it away for 3-4 months. If, at that time, I hadn't looked at it at all, I'd throw it away (but I'm a little bit ruthless with clutter).
  • Thanks everyone. I probably will keep it for at least a while. I tend to collect clutter so I'm trying to work on that but it is something I think might be helpful at least as a reminder.
