I love chewing gum, and I am very confused about being able to chew sugarfree gum during the first 2 weeks of a lowcarb diet. Is there a specific type u can chew? or do i have to wait after the introduction phase, if so what should I do for bad breath.
I think you can chew it, but it needs to count into your carb count. If you don't lose at the rate you are expecting, it might be something you need to cut back - some people don't do well w the artifical sweeteners.
I've found that I don't actually have bad breath, despite all the warnings.
You could chew on a mint leaf - I love fresh mint this time of year!
I guess it depends how strictly you're doing Atkins. Dr. Atkins recommended no gum or mints. Most of the "sugar-free" varieties are made with sugar alcohols....something you should stay away from. I believe Dr. Atkins recommended parsley for ketosis breath. Drinking a lot of water tends to help as well.
