Lose it! App....

  • Now that I've got my pedometer I see how "off" the calorie burn is off on my app... Eek!!! My run today gave me a cal burn of 160 calories for 35 minutes... Whereas the Lose it! App was giving me 285 cals burned... Quite the eye opener! Gonna have to bust my @ss to get That burn now... kinda sucks... *blush*

That's my "learn something new every day" thing today...
  • Yeah. I program in my burn on the 'create your own exercise'.
  • That's exactly why I never, ever rely on any sort of calorie BURNING instrument or calculator and therefore I don't bother tracking my calories burned one iota. I keep my calories consumed totally and completely separate from my calories burned. One has nothing to do with the other. I eat what I eat and I burn what I burn. I keep as active as possible, do my intentional exercise as well and any and all calories burned from it is a bonus in the deficit department. Therefore, IMO, there is no need to track them whatsoever.

I agree with you. There IS something to be learned everyday.

I do this too, except I DO like to track the calories burned as well as the consumed. I don't 'use' my burned calories for my deficit, but I like to know what my total deficit is.

But you see, that's just the thing. "Those" calculators are highly inaccurate. I personally just don't think that there IS a way to track them.
  • I LOVE Lose it. I track what I consume and what I burn and I use it. But I've always done that.

I tend to underestimate just to be on the safeish side and it hasn't done me wrong yet.

I'm SO glad in the new version that you can adjust your calorie goal for the day. They one they set for me was too low and I had to up my weight 20lbs to adjust for it which was annoying.

I use a gowear fit to track my burn. It's actually showing a little higher burn than what my bike shows (I totally thought it would be the opposite). For me, because I don't eat my burn, it's really a measure of my intensity. I try to increase the calories burned in the same amount of time. It doesn't really matter what the calories are (because I'm not eating them) but it does kind of give an average of the intensity of my workout.
  • I don't enter in exercise either. Because of the same reason, the numbers are either too high or too low. Plus since I try to not go over my calories I don't really need to see how much I burned.
  • I keep track, but mostly for amusements sake. I never eat them back either.

Today I worked out and did yard work so it's quite a lot of exercise:

    Total cals:
    1,274

    Net cals:
    97
