My 30-day Hot Yoga Challenge is DONE

  • Well, I did it. 30 Bikram's Classes in 30 days.

We started with 27 participants, and only 5 (including myself) actually did it.

My postures are much improved, I did some poses I never thought I could, and I have more endurance that I ever gave myself credit for.

And, although my weight loss slowed to a crawl (only 1 lb net loss in the 30 days! GRRR!!! and I WAS on plan the entire time...), I have dropped inches for sure. And I feel great, but tired...

I think I'm gonna sleep well tonight, and take tomorrow OFF!!!

  • I only have two things to say:

    (1) I am so jealous.

    (2) CONGRATULATIONS! That is SO awesome
  • Congrats! My poses improved so much since I've been going to yoga classes at the gym--I can only imagine how much they would improve after 30 days straight! And congrats on the inches lost too--pounds are a convenient measure of loss, as we know, but going down a dress size (because of inches lost) is way more satisfying. Well done!
  • omg that is amazing!! My aim is 20 Bikram classes this month of July, starting today! July 1 !.. I am truly excited because I have only done 15 at the max in a month. How do you feel? You must feel amazing! I always find myself doing better at work, being nicer, feeling more confident, and doing more things in my day when I practice regularly. I am so pumped to start again!

You will probably drop weight the following month- I feel like Bikram starts shooting your metabolism up but it doesn't really show until a little later when your body really puts into use everything you've taught it through practice.

When I did bikram for a month (3-4x a week) I dropped like 6 pounds, a week or 2 after.
  • Thanks, chickies!

I must confess that I am enjoying my day off!!! But I'll be back at it tomorrow.
I have noticed that although the pounds haven't dropped off, I am definitely more toned and my size 12s are falling off my butt. I attribute this to stretched fabric, but my DH thinks I am definitely smaller.

If you have a chance to try a 30 day challenge, I really recommend it. You get to know your body and what it can do on each particular day, which for ME at least was weird because I was so USED to just ignoring my body because I didn't like how it looked. And the dialogue which they use (constant yammering for 90 minutes) actually DOES serve the purpose, and you begin to LISTEN and UNDERSTAND instead of in my case grunting, groaning quietly, counting the seconds, and convincing myself that I could finish the class without passing out...

    Thanks for the support, all!!!
