  • DB and I went skydiving for the second time today. There is NO feeling in the world like it. SO awesome!!

Last time we jumped solo, and this time, we jumped tandem. With tandem, you take a 20 minute plane ride to 12,500', free fall for a mile, and then pull the chute at 3,500'. I was thinking this might be my last time, because it's pretty expensive. Now I just don't know! The next step would be to complete our AFF (Advanced Freefall) certification to be able to jump by ourselves.

    Please forgive the numerous photos!

All geared up, waiting to board the plane.

Taking off. The guy behind me is my jump master, Jeff.

Trying to say hi to the camera man. I couldn't get my hair out of my face!

    Freefalling!!

    Still freefalling...for a mile total!

Back on the ground. Please excuse my goofy, adrenaline-fueled grin
  • OMG!!!You are a brave and cool chick!
  • lol Thanks, hon! Take it from me though, you don't have to be all that brave or cool to get out there and do it
  • wow!!! how amazing!! I hope you enjoyed every second of it!
  • wooow, that's awesome!! haha, I always thought sky-diving was cool but I am waaay too paranoid to go through with it! Looks like it was super-fun though!
  • WOW! that's amazing. I could never have the guts to do that! but I really want to do it! if that makes any sense haha
  • Do It!!
  • It IS awesome isn't it? I've done two tandems and my first AFF many years ago. Unfortunately a neck injury (unrelated to jumping) put an end to my skydiving career early, but my ex jumped every weekend for years, and did canopy relative work (canopy formations) with a team.

Doesn't even feel like you're falling does it? More like floating, and the ground is coming up at you

It can get pricey, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the injury. Good for you. EVERYONE should try it at least once in their lives.

BTW.. dont ever jump through a raincloud, you hit the raindrops pointy side up. Ex looked like he had chicken pox when he got down and said it hurt like **** :P
  • You're brave! That's so awesome
  • That looks so fun!! I'd love to try that. Your first jump was a solo, does that mean jumping all by yourself? Crazy!!
  • Wow so exciting!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like you had a blast! And might I add, you look fabulous!
  • Thanks, ladies!

aneleh - When you jump solo, you spend about 6 hours in instruction, and then you go up with the instructor that you are paired with at the end of the course. You have a one-way radio on your belt so that a ground controller can tell you when to turn, etc, to get you back to your landing area. When you jump, your instructor tosses a small white pilot parachute out with you, and in about 3 seconds, the wind catches it and pops the pin on your big parachute.

So yep, you jump by yourself, but assisted
  • Wow! How exciting! That looks awesome! You looked like you were having an awesome time. Your pics are gorgeous!
  • YIKES!! Wow, you go girl! I loved the pics... I wouldn't have been able to go near the airplane door, let a lone JUMP out!!
  • Doesn't hurt to be tied to a cute boy either for a while either! Looks like you had fun!
