"New" car !!!

  • DH's transmission went out in his truck this week. He was driving a 1995 Isuzu Trooper, it had some engine issues, and it just wasn't worth putting a dime into. He only drove it to/from work, a max of 5 miles a day, so it was perfect for him. Since he HAS to have a vehicle (he manages a restaurant and has to pick up product from other stores often enough to not survive on a bike), we went car shopping yesterday.

We found a very slightly used 2006 PT Cruiser with 30k miles on it, one owner, clean Carfax, still under factory warranty. It was well within our budget, so 4 hours later, DH has a new car!!!

I'm excited because I've been bugging him to get rid of his P.O.S. for a while now, I thought it was a death trap.

Thought I'd share my yay with you guys!
  • Grats!! New cars are great!!!!!!!
  • Congrats I keep looking for possible replacements for one of our cars (its 10 yrs old), my husband keeps saying it is going to live to 20 just to spite me for looking
  • Yah!!
Thank goodness you ditched the death trap!
    PT Cruisers are COOL!

  • It's such a good feeling to get a car that you're not worried about. We had a '99 Ford Taurus as our first car- we got it because hubby is tall and well it was the only car he fit comfortably into at the time lol. We dumped so much money into that POS and got to a point where we didn't want to go do anything because we never knew when it might break.
We finally gave up on it and got a new car. like actually NEW. it was so exciting in all my life i'd never even been in a new car. lol. I never worry about breaking down or if we'll make it the two hour trip to the coast, or the 15 minute one to my work. it's great. congrats!
  • PT Cruisers are great. We bought a new one back in '03 and it runs great. We fear the day it dies on us lol.
  • DH was dead set against getting a PT Cruiser. They look so small from the outside, he figured there was "NO FREAKING WAY WILL I FIT IN THAT THING" ... The sales guy scooted the seat all the way back for him, saying how's he's pretty tall (DH is almost 6'3"), and then we had to scoot the seat UP some for him. There's an amazing amount of room in there!

DH loves the car so much, he asked me to go on a ride last night. We took the dogs (who also love the new car) out to the country and drove around for almost 2 hours, just enjoying the weather and laughing at the dogs.

A pretty boring Saturday night I suppose, but DH and I have very little time together because of conflicting schedules, so it was nice to spend a few hours, even though it was almost midnight. Ha.
