I just want to share some good news

  • I was diagnosed when I was 18 years old so it's been 9 years for me. I didn't take care of my diabetes up until last year and that was just testing my blood, taking pills and insulin injections. This year however, I started to eat right. I started on June 4th, I keep my carb count under 20g, I know that's low but there are loads of food you can eat without carbs if you do your research. The key to my diet is to plan, I would plan my meals days ahead and cook everything fresh. At first the food wasn't great but with practice and a little experimenting, I've found ways to make healthy food taste great and fulfilling. As for exercising, there are days where I would just run for 2 minutes and there are days where I can workout for 3 hours. (The 3 hours doesn't happen that much though lol)

It's been 3 weeks since I started my diet AGAIN<== and I've lost 18lbs, 3 inches off my waist and best of all, as of last week, I am no longer insulin dependent. I don't even need my glyburide pills. So I went from 2 pills of glyburide and 80-100 units of insulin a day to nothing. I must say that I am extremely excited about that.

It's still very tough for me, with my depression and with a death of a loved one recently, there are times where I want to give up on life itself, not just this diet. I have this site for inspiration and motivation but I also have my sister and my fiance that supports me every step of the way so I do try to tell myself that although I'm emotionally suffering, there are people to help me pull through and I can slowly live again.

    Thanks for reading,
    Lyna
