CC math question

  • Ok, so, these websites say that if you multiply your current weight by like 12 or 13, that's how much you need to stay at that weight. Well, what would happen if i multiplied my goal weight by 12 or 13 and just ate those calories? would I get down to my goal?? Thanks!!

  • Well, let me try this on myself. Current weight x 12 is (208x12) 2496 calories to maintain my current weight. Goal weight is (160x12) 1920 calories. Seems about right to me - I am consuming 1800 calories per day to loose 1.75lbs / week. To loose one pound, you need to burn 3500 more calories than you consume.

Now, of course you have to be careful - you don't want to restrict to much or your body will go into starvation mode and hold on to every stinking calorie you eat. Did that between baby #3 and baby #4, lost all but 15lbs and was training to run a half marathon. I didn't take the added activity into account - I actually should have been eating MORE to loose MORE.
