A new start

  • Hello All,

I've always been overweight growing up and as a teen but when I was at college the past 4 years, I put on 50-60 pounds. So much for the freshman 15! I have been wanting to lose this weight for a while but it was a rocky 4 years and I think being away from family and suffering from depression only accelerated my weight gain. Anyways, now that i'm graduated and have time to spend working out and not being surrounded by frequent outings to restaurants, fast food and bars, I hope to lose weight that i've wanted to for a long time.

I've signed up with LA Fitness and have enrolled in a 6-month, once a week personal trainer to hopefully help me lose the weight and tone everything. I've been trying to get to the gym around 4-5 times a week for cardio and strength training but it's only my 2nd week at it so it's slow going. My current goal is 160 (50 pounds), but ultimately I would like to be around 145 or so. Now I just need to start counting calories more, get slightly more motivated, watching what I eat, and trying not to binge on something when I'm soooo hungry! Hopefully I'll get there!
  • Congratulations on your motivation! People here are so helpful, every step of the way.

One question: how many calories are you going to count? My big life lesson this year has been the Lower you go the SLOWER you go, beyond a certain point. I've lost 43lbs in 134 days at a rate of 2.24lbs a week, and have become a bit of a 'don't go too low' prophet!

    Good luck!
