Good morning!
i love my epiptical, sometimes i love it more then i love my hubby..lol. at my hightest i was 270. My advise would be take your time, and start off small. dont try to do a marathon the first time you get on it. the first time i got on, i started with 10 minutes spirts. i would go on for 10 minutes, then got off for a bit, and then go back on, usually once in the morning, and once at night. withing two weeks i was able to do 30 minutes at a time
rember when you exercise, it speeds up your metablism for atleast two hours aftewards, so doing short spurts will help keep it up.
make sure you have lots of water with you, and if it dosnt have a fan on it, to help keep you cool, leave a window open so you dont get to warm.

I also am a big fan of the elliptical, but when we first bought it I thought it was going to be a lot different than it was. The first time on it I thought I was going to die, where as my BF gets on and could go all day long. I could go for 30 seconds before I was tired, but would push for 2 minutes. Then gradually increase my time and/or resistance by in small amounts. I think it is very easy to overdo yourself on it and then hate it. The machine works your muscles differently than say running, so it may take time getting used to it. It is definitely a great machine though. And being 300+ things like running just hurt too much on the joints, the elliptical was a great thing that got me moving.

I used an elliptical when I was well over 300 lbs. I bought one when I was a bit under 300 lbs.
The thing with ellipticals is they can vary greatly. One thing I generally recommend is looking at stride length that the elliptical offers. A short stride length can actually cause knee issues.
I bought my elliptical when I weighed 325 lbs. I still use it daily, but I have arthritis in my knees and it does give me pain. I started with just 30 seconds at a time, and while I feel like I now have the stamina to go longer, my knees only let me stay on it for 10 minutes at a time. But I do those 10 minutes about four times a day. As I've lost weight, the pain in my knees has diminished a little.
