I love dried fruits and nuts. There is this brand that has in its bag assorted dried fruits and assorted nuts. How much would be the ideal portion/amount to be considered as a snack?
Haven't bought any, will do today!
Anyway, your answer means that I should just check it rather than asking, right? hehehe!
You can ask anything you like here.
Well if there is nutritional information on the bag then that should let you know what one serving is. However if you find thier idea of one serving to be too much you can always eat half of that and call it a portion.
Dried fruits are WAAAAY higher in calories and sugar then the raw deal. They're dried, the moisture is taken from them and concentrated, so they're also less filling. I would definitely, definitely aim for the raw fruit. You get much more for way less calories.
1.5 ozs of raisins has 129 calories. 1.5 oz of grapes has 29 calories. BIG difference.
Nuts are also very high in calories, so you really have to watch them. It's best to never eat them out of the container, no mindless eating here, but to actually COUNT and portion them out. 1 almond has about 9 calories.
I have also found with nuts & trail mix -- weighing them rather than measuring them produces is the way to go. I have found that often, what the bag says for the weight of a serving (ie, 28g) is less than what it says the serving size is in measuring cups (ie, 1/4 cup).
