Hey everyone!
Ok, I started Jillians 30 DS and I have gained like 6 pounds in 3 days! I am calorie cycling and aside from my "binge" day on Sunday, I have stayed within my range as usual. I heard that when you work muscles that arent used to being work, that you can retain water...does anyone else know if this applies to this DVD or should I just suck this up as "falling off the wagon"? I have slowly and steadily stuck with my program and lost weight reasonably (1-2 pounds a week), how could this have happened?
OH - ALSO, does anyone have any before and after stories of how the DVD successfully worked for them? I was searching through other forums and I see that a lot of people start and record their numbers but I could never find the "end" result of someone who successfully completed it in 30 days (give or take)?
Thanks so much chickadees!
Take care.
I can't speak about Jillian Michaels but I do know that whenever I restart weight lifting of any kind my weight initially goes up a few pounds. It is discouraging, I know.... what is your sodium intake like?
It is relatively low. I dont cook with any salt at all and I consume a lot of fruits and veggies (steamed). I also try to drink 10 glasses of water a day (sometimes as much as 14). Its just strange that I have been on my weight loss journey for 5 months now and this is the first occurence where I have gained this much weight and the only thing that comes to mind is the change in my program (which is incorporating the 30 DS). I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens when I weigh in again on Sunday.
Thanks! I would still like anyone elses oppinion or results of doing the 30 ds.
I just started the 30 day shred dvd on Sunday, I promised myself I wouldn't step on the scale until Friday. I really enjoy the workout so I hope I see results.
My weight fluctuates every day by as much as 3 pounds. It's impossible for you to have gained that much weight in so short a time. It has to be mostly water. I have also read that strength conditioning can cause water retention (muscles swell). Check yourself tomorrow, you should go back down.
Also, make sure you are eating enough calories. I did Atkins induction for 2 weeks, lost 6 pounds, but when I switched to eating clean I was consistently gaining a pound a day because my body had been in starvation mode (I wasn't getting more than around 900 calories).
