How do you count marinades?

  • I love to marinade chicken breasts in italian dressing before I grill them. How do you count marinades? Most of the dressing gets poured off so I'm not sure how much of it I actually ate.... help!

    EDIT: I am looking for how to calculate points values, not calories! Thanks!
  • Just the marinade alone has how many calories?

    I'd add the calories of marinade seperately and then estimate how much you didn't use and deduct those calories later.
  • I can think of 2 ways: use fat free Italian dressing which is 0 points per serving as a marinade. I personally would add 1 point onto the total, just to be safe, because we ALL know that multiple servings of a 0 point food can add up to more than 0 points...
    The second way is to measure out, say 1 cup and lets say the 1 cup is 4 points. Then marinade the food. Then measure out the amount left over. Say you have 3/4 cup left, then you have used 1/4 cup or 1 point which I would add to the total points value of the food.
