New, but tryin' hard!

  • Hello there!

I'm new to TOPS, but I've been dieting for what seems like my whole life! I just went to my second TOPS meeting this week, and I think I MAY do OK on it. I've tried everything (literally) that's legal to lose weight, and ususlly manage to lose a few pounds, but usually gain it right back. The only thing I've found that really worked for me and made me feel good was Weight Watchers. Unfortunately, my pocket book didn't feel good with WW! I got in on the organizational phase of the TOPS chapter in my town, and we're not really sure of what we're doing yet. I was glad to find this forum, and I've enjoyed reading what y'all have posted!
Since we're just starting out, I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice any "experienced" members of TOPS or KOPS may have!

    Wish me luck!

  • Nice to see you!

My tips are to cut the fat, drink LOTS of water and excercise..Pretty basic but thats what Im doing

PS They closed the WW chapter here because no one could afford it..LOL
  • Welcome,

Just a qick reply for now (kids are screamin)

I go to TOPS but use the WWpoints. Do what works for you.

    See ya
  • welcome 4myself, I am glad you found this board. These gals are wonderful. When I am starting to slip, I come here becasue my chapter of TOPS is so small, and everyone works but me (retired on disability with arthritis, so when I need to talk to someone, this is always available. My best help is recording wihat I eat. AS soon as I eat it. Then, when I lose, I can look back and see what made the difference. I use the ww points and having to look up the points for everything I eat, well,it makes me aware of smart choices verses dumb choices. Good luck on your weight loss journey. Mary ann
  • Welcome 4myself,

I am with the rest of the girls. I also do the WW points plan and write down what I eat. I haven't done it in a few weeks and I am going to start keeping a food journal again. I have 3 notebooks full of food journals over the past couple of years. It really does help to look back and see what you were eating when you were losing.
Another huge thing I found is the water. I try to drink at least 64-96 oz. of water a day. There are days that I can't do that with my schedule if I am not going to be near a bathroom. But I try. When I am home here working I do drink the water. It makes a huge difference and also I drink 1 cup of green tea or 2 sometimes and that really flushes the water out of you. But I don't like the taste I just drink it because it works.LOL

Good luck with your new chapter. It is always a good thing to get challanges going in your home chapter.
