Wii for weight loss??

  • I just bought my husband a Wii for his birthday. Haven't taken it out of the box yet, but need to know if I can use it for weight loss? Anyone do this?
I'm completely useless with electronics (still have the TVO in the original box) so I need lots of help!!! I have belly issues, 61 years old and really never exercised. I'm 5'2" 151 pounds and need to get rid of this belly!

Hi, good for you guys for getting a Wii. You can use it to lose weight. They have a program called Wii Fit. My friend has it, so, I can only tell you limited stuff about it. I am sure somebody here, will have more information though.

It is a board you can buy and it has a program that goes with it, sort of like a personal trainer. If you go to Wii's website, or even Amazon, you can read more about it.

She has lost 30 pounds using it. I want to get one, and thought it was funny to run across your post today. We were talking about it last night. I bought my husband a Wii for his birthday too, last july.

We were bowling and both of us sweating after some of the sports. So, it does get you moving for sure.

With the right game or fitness program for it, you should be able to find the weight does come off. My friend LOVES it. We live in the northwest where the rain is plenty. LOL so she uses it when she can't get out and walk regularly.

    Hope that helps!
Good luck and post up if you do you lose weight on it. I'd love to hear the encouragement.
  • I have a Wii Fit and I do a lot of my cardio with Wii Fit. I try to jog about 20 minutes each morning using the Wii. I try to do another 20 minutes sometime during the day. I like the convenience of it early in the morning or in bad weather. You run in place so it gets boring but you can watch TV and your "instructor" talks to you through the Wii remote. It has yoga, strength training etc. I don't do those as I don't need the Wii to help me. On running it times you and keeps up with how far you run.

Now that the weather is getting nicer I don't use it everyday like I did in the winter as I like getting outside.

Wii also has a game called Wii Fitness Coach. I have not tried that one but have heard positive things about it.
