  • I thought I hit my 1st "plateau" at the end of Dec begining of Jan so I decided to start a daily weight log. I was a little bored today so I made this snazzy little chart. What's interesting is that I noticed I drop a couple of pounds and then I'm up and down and then again I drop a few more pounds, repeat. I no longer freak out when I gain a couple pounds because I know it's going to come off again in a couple of days. Kinda cool so I thought I would share.

  • I love the chart! Really helps give you a longer term perspective of what you're body's doing.
  • Very cool, thanks for sharing. What program did you use?
  • Oops! What YOUR body's doing. Typing too fast. I hate that!

Thank you Exactly! I used to obsess about the scale a lot when I first started out and I was worried that weighing myself everyday would make it worse but the opposite happened. Now what I have a longer history of what's going on I can see trends like when I have my TOM.

So if my weight spikes a couple of pounds over 3-4 days I'm not going to have a melt down

When you are consistent you will see results, the weight is going to come off just not in a straight line.

No problem Devsmama, I just use Excel.
  • I love my graphs too

There is a free online weight chart that I use. It privately tracks your weight, you can set goals with it. It also logs your food/water/and how you are feeling.

I found that after my *ahem* stall in weight loss the past few months, I still am able to see the downward trend and it lifts my spirits a bit
  • that's awesome, some ups and downs, but that big black line is heading in the right direction all the time -- DOWN DOWN DOWN!!! yay! i love visuals
  • I've noticed this same pattern - I wonder how many people give up when they see a slight gain without realizing it. And I am recently guilty of doing that very thing!
  • Thanks for that site gumboot. I think I might try and track on a chart as well. I think it's important to see the big picture like that.
  • I've been logging my weigh-ins on excel since the beginning of the year, just never thought to put it into graph form. I think I'll wait until the end of May to do this.

Thanks for posting this. It is interesting to see what your body is doing.

I love what you wrote.....I wish we could all just grasp this concept and stop freaking out, myself included!!!!!
  • I think Im gonna start logging my weight and do the same as you did. What a great idea!!!!!!!
  • Most excellent illustration.

Daniela, your progress is phenomenal. And I thank you so much for sharing it and now I thank you even more for your very wise words. I wish we could have them atop every single post here at 3FC.
  • I oftten have to tell myself it is the trend that counts not the individual numbers. Thanks for such a great illusration.
