  • Good morning!

It's warm, steamy and raining here again this morning. Switching to iced coffee -- too muggy for hot coffee.

Nora - Thanks for the pictures of the chicks! It's great to be able to faces to the names. Hope you all had a great time.

Going to the gym tonight with DD and one of her friends. They are doing the aqua class with me again. We'll see. The two of them together mostly giggle and chatter. We are going to have a serious talk about wo etique before we go to the pool.

Gotta clean today. Cable guys are coming tomorrow to install new cable lines. Putting in cable in the boys room so we won't have the "hey, I was watching that!" problems we had last summer. (DD already has cable in her room.) Lord but kids are spoiled today! (Or maybe parents aren't willing to put up with as much?)

    Talk to you later!

  • Morning to all, up and getting ready for work....really like my new job.....DD's 3rd birthday is this weekend so one of her little friends is coming over for dinner and cake etc. it helps that we are friends with her mother who is also coming..she has a real JERK for an ex-husband so it is always interesting to see her and hear his latest nonsense.

Missed the Y this am just could not get out of bed.....gotta get back in the swing.

Well should go dry my hair and suck down another cup of coffe..hope you all have a great Thursday.
  • I am running behind this morning but the good news is that the scale has moved at last. I stayed up chatting with some nutcases in LC Chat last night - you know who you are!

Rain all day yesterday was great for my garden. Today looks like it may clear up. Ashley and I are going to the Church after school today to deadhead the 1500 daffies and plant nasturtium seeds in the beds. As soon as they are up, I hope to be able to cut back the daffy leaves. If my killer clay soil is dry enough later, I'll plant some beans and stuff in my veggie garden. I love being able to work outside, particularly now that I'm not worried about my shoulder. I know it will hurt for a long time but it IS getting better.

We are having a family re-union on June 30 and I'm up to my ears in organizing. I've never had one or been to one so any and all ideas are welcome. A cousin is renewing her wedding vows (now that she has coerced her hubby into joining in) and we will be doing a big BBQ and booze thing at the Fair Hall that weekend. Now get this ---- my dear brother will not be coming because his wife's ANNUAL family reunion is that weekend. Ahem! They do that reunion every darn year. My sister is really steamed and is going to "talk" to him. Why is it that men ignore their birth families more than women do? I sure hope Joan can get Dave to come - otherwise there will be one of those awful family rifts! Anyhow, it won't be allowed to ruin my weekend.

Nora gave me some great diet software - Weight by Date Pro 2.0 so I am not using Fitday anymore. This program can be used offline which allows me to update stuff without getting onto the Net. I find when I go onto the Net I spend a lot of time nosing around. Of course a piece of paper would work too!

Gotta go do my exercises and trundle Hershey and Lucy to the vet for weigh-in. I sure hope Hersh has lost a bit since quitting rawhide bones cold turkey.

    Have a super Thursday.
  • Good morning everyone!

jdoneil, I had to laugh when you said the cable guys were coming, it reminded me of a story of how we had cable put into our house. We purchased our house in 92, it was just being built, the builder had us mark where we wanted telephone lines and cable lines so he could pre-wire. We had cable put into almost every room of our house, including the basement. It was not until my husband called the cable company to have the cable turned on that we learned that cable was not on our street yet. Boy did we feel like fools. We finally got cable in 93.

Leens I found the bbq recipe, I will post it later this morning in the recipe section.

I did a double take yesterday in the mirror. I was walking out of the bathroom when I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and there was a stranger staring back at me. My weight is not moving down quickly, but my face is really thinning out. I feel wonderful, my strength is coming back more each day.

    Have a good one everybody
    Debbie
  • Hi Girls,

Quick one today, boss is here

Debkay thanks for posting the recipie, I appreciate it and I'm so happy you are starting to see the new you. Just remember you've ALWAYS been beautiful.

    Gotta run.

    Love, Leens
  • Morning Everyone! Woke up to fog today. So much moisture in the ground and a temp change coming--I was glad that I didn't have to drive to school today in the fog. I didn't do any projects yesterday other than the daily stuff. Just never got the oomph going for it. Hopefully today I will feel more motivated. DS has basketball practice this a.m. and then he is having a friend over for lunch and goofing this afternoon. Don't want to have anything too torn apart while he is here. DH was acting the jerk yesterday (won't go into the gory details) but somehow I ended up being the bad guy and he ended up being the injured party. I am still doing a burn today--need to channel that energy!!!! Weight loss still at a stand still. Got to get going on that!!!

debkay, you deserve that double take in the mirror. You have been through so much--I am so glad to hear that you are seeing some reward for it and that you are getting your strength back. Yes, DS is still doing sports. He was the only freshman to letter in 2 sports this year--football and track.Ienjoyed the track letter more.

Leens, thanks for kind words yesterday. Your story about Raggedy Ann hit me. When I was a senior in highschool my mom and dad bought one of the oil paintings my aunt did of a Raggedy Ann and a tennis shoe and another childs toy lying on the floor. It was called "Growing Up" I love that painting.

Peach, I took your Calgon advice and have to say that I enjoyed it. I just better not get into that habit or I won't get everything done this summer.

Pooky, hope you feel better today.

jd, I saw that you mentioned Avon--do you sell the products? My mom was an "Avon lady" for 25 years==President's Club and all that. Have fun at your aqua class tonight.

goodforme, hope your boss behaves herself today!

scooby, I am waving our clouds your way--hope you get the rain! Enjoy that 3 year old's birthday!

Ruth, sounds like you and your helper have your work cut out for you!

Hello to all yet to come!
  • Just a super quick post right now--Miree is bugging the @#$% out of me and we're going to drop in this moring. Good news on the TOM front--things are finally slowing down so I can be more mobile than I was yesterday. All I have to say is that Provera is one wicked drug--this is what has caused all the havoc in my life!

    Ruth, happy dead heading!

Deb--that's something I would do! LOL

Annie, thanks for your concern, I was getting pretty worried myself!

Dang, gotta go Miree is into stuff!
  • Morning!
Off to work after a week off! Catch up with you later! Liz

Great pics and a great lookin bunch of ladies!

  • Is finally sunny here. Am going to do some cleaning and get outside for a bit.

DH is doing remarkably well on his LC plan. BUT, I reminded him that the dietitian wanted him to also count calories. I told him too that he could use a modified WW pan along with LCing.

I have a great Brat the Cat story. The little b@st@rd was on my cupboard the other day. Now, I dearly love cats, but NOT on my cupboard. I placed masking tape sticky-side-up on the area and his jumped up there last night. It was so funny watching histry to get it off of himself. Finally, after he had rolled around, we pulled it off. That should teach the little brat.

Well, am off to get things done. BTW, I love the pics! I feel as though I know you all so well.....it's a good feeling.
  • GREAT PICTURES!!!!

    BEAUTIFUL LADIES!!

I am SOOOOO wishing that I could have been there to meet all of you!!

How about a Midwest meeting sometime---Ilinois is kind of centrally located---

Thanks for sharing the pictures with the rest of us---it is nice to have a beautiful face with a name on a post.
  • AdoAnnie - Yes. I sell Avon. I've been selling it for a little over a year now. Love it! No where near Presidents' Club yet. Maybe someday.

Tippy - Loved the cat story! I might steal your idea to keep my little furball off my counters (that's worse then the cabinets). I tried squirting him with a spraybottle full of water. Just my luck to have a weird cat who likes water!

I've been doing fantastic with the exercise since I joined the gym. Not only am I working out 3 days a week at the gym but I've been moving more (walking extra steps, stairs rather than elevator, belated spring cleaning, etc.). I felt so good that I decided to get on the scale this AM (despite TOM not quite having left the premises yet). What a shock! I was UP 4 pounds! I was so mad I was close to tears. Then I started thinking about what I've been eating for the last two weeks. OK. I guess I should confess that I've been using the extra exercise as an excuse to load up on surgary carbs. NO MORE! Back OP for me -- which means starting a new page in my food journal and actually WRITING in it!

Now when I log onto Fitday.com, I'm not only going to log in my exercise for the day but I'll record in the "journal" part whether I wrote down everything I ate or not. I tried using the food journal they have on line but it's too complicated. Half of the foods I eat aren't listed and I can't figure out how to add them correctly. Anyone else having problems with this site? Have you found a better one? Please advise.

Gotta go. Going to the gym for another aqua class tonight and have to feed kiddies before I leave.

  • I'm so proud of me!!!
Today was my son's birthday and we took him to eat. His choice of resturants. We went to Bennigan's. I LOVE their Monte Cristo sandwich. Three slices of bread dipped in a batter and fried, that MUST be eaten with raspberry preserves. That's whaat he ordered. But being the good lowcarb person that I am, I had the grilled seafood platter and left the rice untouched. WOW Such willpower. I don't know where it came frome, but I hope it stays around a while.

JO: I sell AVON too. Been doing it for about 4 years now. Made PC last year for the first (and probally last) time. I really don't have time to do it anymore, and since I don't work in a busy medical building anymore, I keep thinking I'll get out of it, but somehow, I just can't give it up. Have you tried the Slimwell Bars? I have tried the sample bars, and they are great on 10 carbs in the sample size. Don't know about the regular size.
