Work out gear for plus sized

  • I saw the other thread of "Favourite Workout Gear" and this made me want to ask for those of you that are bigger than what they sell at Walmart and other stores, what do you do for workout gear?

I would love to buy the workout gear at Walmart or Sears but problem is I am bigger than their biggest size available. So what do you do when your bigger than what's available?
  • Lane Bryant has active wear I had a pair of their pants a while back and they were comfy!
  • I bought stuff at Pennignton's a couple of times and they seem to be okay and had a pretty decent selection.

Although, if you're close enough to the border, it might be worth a jaunt over since plus is so much cheaper there.
  • Champion has a whole plus size collection online, including good sports bras. The bras, pants/shorts, tshirts etc all come in nice colors that coordinate and are great workout clothes.
  • I second Champion, I like their stuff, not sure the size range available though. If you have a bit of money to spend, look at Junonia.com. If not, check out Lane Bryant Catalog (separate from the store) and Roaman's catalog. Both are online as well. The clothes are cheap -- and cheap -- but you're not going to be in that size for long, eh? Also, Catherines and Avenue might be worth investigating; if there are no stores in your area, I believe they also do some online sales.
  • You can also get Champion stuff at www.justmysize.com I love my black stretch workout shorts!
  • When I was at my highest weigh a few years ago (289lbs) I would go to the sporting store like Cleves or Foot Locker and get the biggest size in mens track pants. Adidas xl is huge.I'm a size 18 20 now and they are too big for me to wear. I think they have xxl as well. In a pinch if I was working out at home I'd wear my jammies. As long as its comfy right?
  • Lane Bryant has nice stuff and so does fashion bug. Old navy sells plus sizes online and they have some pretty resonably priced active wear
