Cheesy Hashbrowns

  • I induldged in my weakness from the cafe this morning. They are hasbrown potatoes made w/ cheddar cheese & maybe sour cream & then baked all golden & gooey.

    I had about 1 cup. Any ideas on the points? I want to use my weekly allowance for this "treat" & stay on plan!

  • That sounds similar to Cracker Barrel restaurant's Hash Brown casserole nutrition info:

    I loaned out my calculator, and all I have is the cardboard slider. The fat is off the chart, but seems it would be about 14 or 15 points. Maybe someone with a calculator can give you the exact points.

    I ate hashbrowns the last time we went to Waffle House! It was all I ate but it was good.

  • I counted it as 13, thought it would be similar as potatoes au gratin the the WW point book. Very rare indulgence. Haven't had them since December.

  • I grew up in Idaho, ANYTHING with potatoes in it I can't stop eating... Especially not stop at one little cup of this...
  • We all have things that we still enjoy as a treat! I have my Cincoshakes from our local "starbuck-like-but-better" shop.. I now order it with 2% milk and no whip cream. It comes out to about 8pts. I only get it about once a week, if I have extra room, if that!
    You could also find a way to make that a bit healthier at home.. potatoes, low-fat cheese, lf or ff sour cream.. I bet it would still taste just as good!

  • Be careful making it at home because then you'll have a whole pan of it, instead of one serving. Even if you lighten it up, that could be dangerous since it's a trigger food for you. Just a thought.
