Think I hit a plateau

  • The scale isn't moving!!!! I have revved up my exercising and still eating my low cal stuff and drinking nothing but water and milk and the numbers just keep staring at me. Usually within a pound of each other and its driving me crazy. Anyone have any advice on how to kick the plateau in the a$$?
  • How long have you been stuck?
  • If this has only been a few days or even a week , you are not at a plateau yet. You have had a grest loss and weight loss does slow down a bit, it is normal , Hang in there!
  • I have only lost 2lbs in 3 weeks. Im sitting on the 179/180 mark and just don't know what else to do.
  • 2 lbs in 3 weeks is excellent! Relax you are being too hard in yourself.

I'm certainly not one to give advice on getting past the plateau...I have been stuck on the 175 plateau for about a year...lol...but I know why I am here: lack of consistency. I know I need to stay super consistent with food and exercise, but when I get closer to the 170 mark I get too comfortable and lose focus. Then before you know it I am up to 177. I blame it on my social life - friends, fun and travel are not kind to consistency.

If you are staying consistent, then I would suggest changing your workout. Your body may have gotten use to what you have been doing.
  • All I've got is pretty generic:
    - Change up your exercise, either by completely switching gears (running for swimming, for example) or by varying your routine within that one thing (running intervals instead of 20 minutes straight)
    - Maybe start lifting weights, if you don't currently

That's all I've got. Good luck!
  • I was in one... and I tried up-ing my protein, and getting rid of starches
  • Ugh the dreaded plateau! How many calories are you eating? I would try calorie cycling or eat more. IF your body is in starvation mode, it may be holding on to what you are feeding yourself.
Plateaus suck! Keep up the hard work and you will totally feel better about yourself if you stick with it. IF you let it get you down and give up, you will regret it!
  • I'd be ecstatic if I lost "only" 2 pounds in three weeks. The scale goes down maybe a pound a month now that I'm close to my goal. Actually, I'm ecstatic every time I step on the scale and it hasn't gone back upwards

You're doing this healthily. Keep it up...sometimes the weight just drops off inexplicably after a while and sometimes it just stays there.
