My newest motivator...

  • Well, I'm in it now...

I convinced my husband to run a 5k with me in November! I couldn't believe he said yes! My husband is one of those people who has been able to eat whatever he wanted his whole life, but at 41 it is starting to catch up to him. He has a family history of diabetes, and I think he may be boarderline now but he won't go get checked, but he agreed to run the 5k with me in November! I'm really excited. It will help keep me motivated to have a non weight goal to look forward to, plus a training partner.
  • That's terrific that he is being so supportive and also making a goal for himself at the same time. I have to give you kudos for doing it. I keep wanting to find someone to do one of those charity walks with me, but it's been hard.
  • Sounds awesome. I'm doing a 5k in May. I may look for an 8k/10k for later this year too.
  • Awesome! Good luck with training for it At least you have a workout partner!
  • That is a wonderful way to motivate some healthy eating and exercise AND be a good and loving wife to a husband that may be getting himself into some dangerous healthy territory himself. And it should really help you out if he gets on the same page, so to speak. Good for BOTH of you!

  • Good luck. That is an excellent goal to work towards. Its great your husband is willing to do it with you! My husband is very supportive of everything I do which is very helpful with keeping me on track. I get depressed sometimes because he eats like a horse and does not have an ounce of fat on him, but thats not his fault lol, and he is never critical and always supportive of me. It makes all the difference.
  • I also teamed up with someone for a 5K, my mom and I signed up for one on May 17th. It's good because I know she's working really hard and I know that she's counting on me to be able to do it with flying colors too! I went out today and found I'm walk/jogging 15 minute miles, UGH! I'm hoping to get that down to 10 minute miles in the next 2 months!
  • Sounds like a great plan. I did a group triathalon a couple of years ago and I would love to do one again. Something for me to look at in the future. Have fun training!

    Mine is May 17th too!!

I just restarted again and a couple days ago, I was at 15 minute miles, now I'm at 14 minute miles (for 2 miles).

Also, I don't know if you've done a 5k before but they are very motivating. You generally go faster with people surrounding you and the support.
  • That is super awesome! I'll be cheering you on
