Anybody tried Nintendo Wii Fit?

  • I've been very intrigued by Nintendo Wii Fit lately. Does anyone have one (or the other exercise programs for Wii)...Is it really fun and does it make you feel more motivated to exercise?
  • I have it... it's really fun. It can be a good workout too! I'd recommend it.
  • I think it's fun but personally I have trouble keeping my heart rate up using it because of the lag time between choosing activities (you do one thing for a few minutes and then have to click through several menu options to get to the next). It's definitely a good way to be somewhat active on days you can't get other exercise in, though!

And the little WiiFit training coach character can be motivating--though it fusses at you if you gain weight and makes you choose a reason why you think you gained, which can be very frustrating if your weight is fluctuating due to it being your time of the month (which isn't a listed option!).
  • I have a wii fit, and i must say that it does work, you just have to do it for a while to get a really good workout.

I usually only do the strength and yoga. That gets my heart rate up.
  • I've been using mine since Christmas. It has taken me a while to work up to a good hour's workout (not including the down-time between each of the exercises), but I can now bend & touch my toes (!), do 50 crunches (jackknife), am up to the highest level of the boxing, and have done the freestep (and manage a good 100+ steps per minute), while doing the 20-minute workout. And even have done the yoga position, 'dance'- without falling down!

I am sorry if it sounds like I'm boasting, but, darnit, I am tickled that I can do all these things! If you told me last fall that I'd be able to do these things, I'd have asked you to share whatever you'd been smoking! I know that it's not like going to a gym or fitness guru, but for the money, I like it alot, it allows me to workout in the privacy of my home - and - various body parts are starting to tighten up.
  • I do use my WII fit quite a lot, and I like it loads. Especially the strength and the yoga exercises help me a lot.
I don't think I will be staying with the aerobics for very long, though, I will probably outgrow those quite quickly.
I have a long way to go on the other stuff, though!
