a mental health moment

  • So, I'm bipolar and I"ve been getting manic lately. I caught it really early though and got a new med and am getting things under control slowly but surely.

I just wanted to say that I'm pretty much just maintaining. I haven't been watching very well, but am trying here and there. it's hard with all this noise in my head to do anything. I stopped cleaning and am kind of thrill seeking instead. I need to get back on track in all aspects of my life, starting today. It's not just about meds, I need to make an effort too!

hopefully will be back here this week.

  • Good Luck to you! I have bipolar in my family and know how difficult it can be. Kudos for recognizing what was going on and getting the meds adjusted
  • Lottie,

Hang in there, its hard I know. For what it is worth, given the normal pattern most of us share of losses followed by large gains, maintaining is a huge victory! give yourself some credit.
  • Hey Lottie, hope you're feeling better soon.
  • Lottie, so glad you're checking in and that you caught your slide into the mania before it got too bad. Hopefully, the meds will help you find your balance soon.
  • Take good care of yourself!
  • Thanks everyone.

The new med I'm on is a major weight gainer. I"m hoping to keep things in control.
  • I've been diagnosed with bipolar as well, but I'm not sure how well my meds helped me. People close to me thought that I was worse while on them... so I stopped. I haven't discussed with my doctor switching medications. I usually notice things after the fact, but I know what you're going through.

Take care and hang in there, mmmkay?
  • Hope all goes well with your new meds. Congrats for maintaining, thats awesome.
  • The main thing is to take care of yourself and to take the meds. At least you recognized what was happening. My sister in law is bipolar also and I know it is a struggle to get back on track. We are here for you.
