the need to confess

  • SO I've been off plan for 3 weeks... it started out with me going out of town to visit my MIL and bless her heart she tried to cook healthy for me and the hubby but she just didn't get it.... so to not hurt her feelings i ate the food she cooked.. tried to portion control as much has possible and drink extra water. there was also some family issues going on which is why we were there

then the following week I was moving, packing, un packing, organizing, etc.. going back forth back and forth I literally ate fast food for that whole week I had NO time to cook... tried to eat what I thought "might be in range" example eating a happy meal instead of a big mac meal.. but I'm SURE I went WAY over calories limit!

third week after settling in I got horribly sick! missed aw week of work, and was in bed.. ugh how miserable.... at this point I didn't care about my calories and just ate what was comforting..

I know I just wasted 3 valuable weeks but through it all some how I managed to maintain my weight and actually lose one whole pound..lol woo hoo ? But I'm so grateful for that!

I felt so guilty I didn't come here and post, i didn't track my cals, no exercise nothing... BUT TODAY I'm back on plan! i counted my cals, I've posted a lot here, (coming here is so motivating) and dranks lots of water!

I kinda just felt the need to "confess"
  • It has been said that confession is good for the soul.

I, myself have been eating poorly and have goten sick as a result so I sympathize with you.

Let us both get back on track!!

I am going out tomorrow to buy a wok and a bamboo steamer so I can incorporate more veggies and fish into my diet.
  • good for you!!! I'm proud of at least the fact in my prior "diet attempts" if I got off the wagon I figured I was off what would one more day hurt.. and then one day turned into a year or more....

good for you on the wok! they make yummy things!
  • I think we all understand this. You have acknowledged what happened and are changing it!!!Good for you.Glad you are feeling better.Family drama is tough.Always makes me want to eat it away..........LOL!!!Funny how its still there when I wake from my food coma????
  • Hey man, you are on here still and that is what really counts. If I had had a busy couple of weeks like you, I am sure I would bee Offplan as well.. but at least you took healthier alternatives or not as big alternatives.. that can be quite hard when you are eating fast food!

    Welcome back!
  • You're here, you know you had an oops or two, you're accountable, and thats that! I truly believe everyday is a new day now! I also see you're about to accomplish another mini-goal, YAY!!!!!
  • yes thank you guys for the support! I weighed in and am down 3 lbs woot woot! and that's from being back on plan for only 2 days now! I'm so relieved that even through my bad choices this months I've managed to loose 3.3 lbs! of course I could have lost 8-10.. but at least i didn't gain!
  • Wow. The way I see it is, if you lost 3.3 pounds in 3 weeks you were NOT off plan, but ON plan! Great Job keeping it together during such a stressful time. Awesome!
  • I think it was a great step to come here and admit that you fell off the wagon. Most of us fall off the wagon, lol sometimes we even get run over it after we fall off...but the important thing is to get back on it...even if you have to chase the wagon down....

Hmmm...now I have the desire to watch a Western for some strange reason

    Good Luck!

Personally, I'd watch Little House on the Prairie.
  • Remember...guilt is a useless emotion! Good for you for doing the best you could under difficult and trying circumstances, and even managing to turn lemons to lemonade!

Just curious...what did your MIL cook you? My stepmom tries to help and makes Jell-o with fruit in it, thinking that is a healthy choice.
  • Hi Maria, no reason to beat yourself up. You're back on track NOW and that's what's important. We all fall off the wagon sometimes, it's not like the wagon has a seat belt or anything. You got up, dusted yourself off and its all good.
  • my MIL is from mexico so of course everything is authentic mexican food... for tamales she used butter instead of lard for a healthier choice, and put white rice in it as a filler instead of using the masa completely... it was cute.. she sure did try but as we know butter and rice might be slightly better then lard and flour but it's still pretty caloric...

she did how ever get us egg beaters for breakfast in the morning but it was mixed with chorizo... and also she got whole wheat bread but it was still about 100 cals per one slice I get 45 calorie bread...

I thought it was sweet that she at least tried I warned her a head of time that we were counting calories and eating healthier- they are coming here this weekend and I will cook for her!
