Calculating points?

  • I'm 5"7 and 115 pounds....
I know I don't need to lose a LOT of weight,
but for ballet I have to lose 5 pounds.
Nothing major, and I want to do it sensibly....
WW seems to be the answer,
but how many points should I be eating a day???

PS- I'm doing this very carefully and making sure
I have a balanced diet and that my health is good
  • It would be 18-23 points, but you are already so slim, you don't fit the bottom of the profile for 5'7" which is 127 pounds. Why would you have to lose 5 pounds?

I know that Weight Watchers would not accept you into the program.

Just be careful. I would think a good ballet workout would take care of any weight.
  • Domina, thanks for your reply....

To be honest, I battled an eating disorder for 2 years because of ballet... there is a lot of pressure to look a certain way, while still maintaining a high athletic perfomance schedual....

    Unfortunately, I also love it.....

So now I'm back and healthy and have started up ballet again, I do have to lose 5 pounds, BUT this time, i've learned my lesson and want to do it very slowly and carefully and all that...
so i decided to try weight watchers...

my OTHER problem is i'm a vegetarian and don't know the points for tofu, so i'm kinda going by my "eyeball" points on a lot of items..

I don't know if this is going to work for me though, any suggestions?
  • Good Luk with your ballet. Are you with a major company? As for WW. Here is another site for some more information that may help you.

  • LF,

1/3 cup (1/5 block) of low-fat tofu is 1 point. If it's regular, count 2 points. If it's soft, count 1 point.

You be careful there. An eating disorder is nothing to mess around with, as you know. There are a lot of issues associated with that. Just remember that your health is most important.

By the way, what is your favorite ballet?
  • Domina: hands down: THE NUTCRACKER

that's what got me started in ballet, when i was 6 my dad took me Christmas Eve and i fell in looooooooooove......

One day I hope to be the sugar plum fairy
I'm at the National Ballet School in Toronto, so i guess you could say it's a major company but i'm certainly not their top dancer!
    (.....yet..... lol)

PS - Thank you SO much for the tofu points!!!!!!!!!
  • You're welcome
    LF,

You're welcome for the points information.

Nutcracker is one of my favorites, too.

Good luck on being the prima ballerina!!
  • LF,

I still remember being the biggest ballerina in the Nutcracker, the Waltz of the Flowers. I was tall, big shouldered, and they put me in the back so that everyone could see the cute, little girls in the front. Ended my career right then and there. I looked like a muskox dancing in a field of butterflies.
