  • UGH of all times!

what can i do to tone myself up O_O without hurting myself?
and i have to cancel gym membership for a month. pah!
  • So, I assume from your post that you can't put pressure or weight on one of your feet then? Here's some ideas ~

In the Obstacles Forum, those of us with physical challenges use other forms of exercise -- like swimming, chair and upper-body aerobics; hand-weights doing the alphabet, ergometers (arm cycler), arm rowers, stretchy bands, yoga, pilates, tai-chi; and any exercises that can be done on the floor or a bed or couch: like ladies sit-ups & push-ups, knee-lifts, leg lifts (front & sides), leg alphabets, calf-curls, leg butterflies, butt lifts, and tummy tucks ...

I do at least 30 minutes of these in the morning; then more in the evening as well, and alternate with the walking, as it can be done. Just sub a mix of these kinds of exercises for your walking time. You can even do squats while holding onto a chair or kitchen counter; presses against a wall; plus arm aerobics that make you look like you are a flagperson at the airport. Be creative and before you know it, you will have a huge repertoire of things you can do to burn calories besides walking; and I love the variety too!
  • There are a lot of things you can do with an exercise ball.

Even sitting. Sit on the edge of a chair and raise your legs up and down, then raise them and pull your knees towards your chest, great for the abs. Work your arms and upper body with hand weights, stretchy bands, cans of soup if that's all you have. Lean back in your recliner, keep back straight and pull yourself forward. Great for the lower abs.
